Knowledge objects
1.To make the Ss know that now the earth has a lot of serious problems and people are causing damage to the earth a lot. And if people don’t stop polluting the world and pay more attention, the whole situation will be more and more serious.
2. To give a reinforced practice in the use of the past participle and some useful expressions.
Ability objects
1.Make the Ss the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as the director
2.To improve their reading comprehension ability through some reading steps.
3.To improve their written English.
Moral objects
1.Enable the students to love our earth and the nature.
2.Encourage the students to do something useful to save and protect the earth and our environment.

1. Input the passages as a whole:Make the Ss grasp and understand the general idea of the passages as a whole.

1. The general idea of the passages especially the causes and results of different problems
2. Thinking of some ways to save and protect our earth especially in our daily life
TEACHING PROCEFURES
Step 1 Revision
Revise the dialogue in Lesson 33.
Step 2 Lead-in
Show the students some pictures.( on the screen)
Step 3 Presentation
1. The teacher's brief introduction:
Today we will deal with the three most serious problems the earth has --– earth problem , air pollution, and water pollution.
2. Get the students to read the passages silently to get a general idea.
Step 4 Reading
Get the students to read the passages again and deal with the passages separately with the help of some pictures.
Step 5 Consolidation
Ask the students to do some exercise about the passages to consolidate what they have read.
Step 4.Discussion
Think of the question : 1)Are we causing damage to the earth
2)What damage are people doing around us
3) Take Fenshui river for example to discuss.
Homework
Ask the student to write a short passage.
