Content: Senior II Unit 1 Reading NO Boundaries
Teaching Aims:
1. Help the students to use scanning skill to grasp special information.
2.Help the students understand the text and learn from Stephen Hawking.
3.Learn to use some useful impressions.
Teaching Important Points:
1.Understand important phrases and sentence pattern:
2.Enable the students to understand the text as much as they can.
3.Improve the students’ reading ability by using scanning skill.
Teaching Difficult Points:
1.How to make the students understand the reading text better.
2.How to make every student active in class.
Teaching Methods:
1.Scanning the text to get some information about Hawking.
2.Careful reading to answer some detailed questions.
3.Discussion after reading the passage to make the students learn how to use the scientific method to solve the problem.
4.Individural, pair or group work to make every student work in class.

Teaching Procedures:
Step I Lead-in
1.lead in by discussion. You are one of the best students in your class. One day your doctor tell you that you have had a serious disease that can not be cured and you may die soon in one year. What would you feel and what would you do
2.Show the slide of Stephen Hawking’s saying. There did not seem much point in working on my PHD---I did not expect to survive that long. Yet two years had gone by and I was not that much worse. In fact, things were going rather well for me and I had got engaged to a very nice girl, Jane Wilde. But in order to get married, I needed a job, and in order to get a job, I needed a PHD. Explain difficult sentences for the students.
3.let students to watch the slides and learn important facts about him.
