设计思想：
英语新课程标准倡导任务型的教学模式，让学生在教师的指导下，通过感知，体验。实践，参与和合作等方式，实现任务的目标，感受成功。在学习过程中进行情感和策略调整，以形成积极的学习态度，促进语言实际运用能力的提高。这就要求教师能根据学习内容设计相应的活动，让学生在体验中掌握语言知识，学会运用语言，培养各种技能。本课时的中心话题是“急救”，包括急救的重要性，急救的基本常识以及急救的具体步骤（DR ABC）。由于所学内容接近生活，实用性和操作性强，因此在教学过程中创设实际教学情景，布置任务，让学生在理解文章内容的基础上，针对生活中常见的各种紧急情况， 运用所学知识实施紧急救护。 通过实践和参与， 掌握本课时的语言技能，语言知识，培养学生处理紧急事件的应变能力和操作能力，实现英语新课程的教学目标。
教学内容分析：
本课时的中心话题是意外情况下的急救知识。具体涉及关于急救的重要性，急救的基本常识以及急救的具体步骤（DR ABC）。 通过本课时的教学，让学生了解有关急救的常识，能在对文章理解的基础上，用较为流利的英语表达在生活中如何处理一些突发事件，学会在实际情况中实施正确的紧急救护等
教学内容分为四个部分。
1． “读前”（Pre-reading）部分先以四幅图片来导入新课,让学生针对这些图片思考一些问题,你会怎么办 该怎么办
2． “阅读”(Reading)部分是一篇介绍急救的文章，标题是DR ABC， 具体介绍急救的重要性，如何进行急救，急救时注意DR ABC：D代表Danger(危险)；R代表response(反应)；A代表Airway(呼吸道)；B代表Breathing(呼吸)；C代表Circulation(血液循环)，以及如何进一步急救等一些急救基本常识和步骤，使学生理解急救对病人的重要性及基本的急救知识，以便他们运用于生活实际。
3． “读后”(Post-reading)分三个任务。
Task 1.True or False 加强对文章内容的理解；
Task 2. Describe pictures 加强语言知识的运用；
Task 3.Discussion 巩固所学知识，培养实际操作技能；
4． “活动”（Activity) 部分是开展一个竞赛“A First Aid Quiz”，并给予胜利者奖励，扩充范围，更多的学习急救知识。
教学目标:
根据《普通高中英语新课程标准》（实验稿）关于总目表的定位及其实现途径和目标具体描述，结合高二学生实际和教材内容，我把本课时的教学目标定为：
1．语言知识
1）掌握、理解、运用以下生词及词组：witness、panic、roll over、deal with、keep in mind、manage、manage to等
2）正确复述急救步骤（DR ABC）
2．语言技能：
读：能理解课文内容和课文结构，在阅读中运用scanning, skimming, generalization, inference等具体细节的读写策略和技能。
说：能在对文章理解的基础上，用较为流利的英语表达在生活中如何处理一些突发事件，学会在实际情况中实施正确的紧急救护等
3．学习策略
学生能在一定程度上形成自主学习、有效交际和信息处理英语思维能力。
4．情感策略
让学生了解急救的重要性和常用方法，能准确的运用于实际生活， 增强学生帮助他人，拯救生命的意识；体验用英语交流的成功与喜悦，以及培养合作精神、互助精神。
教学方法：
教师安排学生快读和查读，理解课文含义；通过阅读， 小组讨论，提问，口语练习，复述，实际运用等掌握急救步骤。
教学准备：
制作课件、准备topic cards、预备奖赏（糖果）、录音机
