Period one Integrating skills 1 & Listening
I. Teaching aims: 1. To talk about travel.
2. To learn what we should consider before we go to travel.
3. To practise listening.

III. Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warming up
Start the class with the trip to Nanjing. (Freetalk)
What do you think of the school’s trip to Nanjing Are you looking forward to it Maybe some students don’t like to go. Would you like to give us your reasons for going or not going
No matter whether you like to or not this time, I can say, everybody likes traveling.
Step 2 Integrating skills
Pre-reading: Before the trip, there are always many things you must consider to avoid some problems. What are they (E.g. safety, time, health, money, information…)
Safety consideration: 1. Clothing with secret pockets.
2. Don’t advertise your home address.
3. Don’t put all your money in one pocket.
4. …
Time: Don’t go travel at the height of the season. There will be too many people and the price will be more expensive.

While-reading: Read the text to learn travel tips and practical advice.
Read the text while listening and answer what the four main tips in this passage are.
1. Read about your destination before you go
2. Find out package trips with the help of travel agents.
3. Use credit card or traveler’s cheques.
4. Make a list and travel light.
Read again and answer the following questions:

Step 3 Listening
After we have considered everything, it’s time for us to decide where to go. Before we make the decision, let’s see where Jennifer will go.
Look at the pictures on page 33. There are six countries. What are the differences among them Greece, Iraq and Mexico are ancient countries and famous for their ancient cultural relics. And Brazil, the South Pacific and Greenland are famous for their nature.
