Period of time: 45 minutes
Goal: In this lesson, Students will review the question “What do you usually do on weekends ” and think of the activities they learned last term, learn to master the frequency---always, usually, often, sometimes, hardly ever, never. Students can improve and develop their skills of English literacy and cooperation through class discussion and group work and pair work.
Objectives:
1. In this lesson, students will be able to describe their weekends and their partner’s weekends.
2. In this lesson, students will be able to use the frequency---always, usually, often, sometimes, hardly ever, never.
3. In this lesson, students will be able to work cooperatively in small groups and complete a group project.
4. After this lesson, students can write down a report according to the survey.
Materials:
1.A recorder and a piece of large calendar
2.A work sheet
3.A set of ppt
Procedures:
Opening (10 minutes)
1. Display a large calendar that the days of the week. Point to Saturday and Sunday
T: This is the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are the weekend.
Ss: Weekend
T: How often do you play tennis (Ss repeat it twice. The teacher points to Monday, Wednesday and Friday and say, I play tennis three times a week.)
Ss: (Repeat twice) I play tennis three times a week.
2. Brainstorming: What do you do on weekends Think of the activities as many as you can.
Middle: (30 minutes)
1. Look, talk, read and write
1) Show the pictures of exercising, skateboarding, reading, shopping, watching TV. Read the new words---exercise and skateboard.
2) Look at 1a.
T: What can you see in the thought bubbles What are they doing
S: One girl is shopping. Another girl is reading. This boy is exercising, Another boy is watching TV. These girls are skateboarding.
3) Point out the sample answer. Ask the students to list the activities in the thought bubbles.
4) Check the answers on the screen.
2. Listen
1) T: (Point to the pictures on the screen and say) I always read books at 6:00 in the morning. Then I usually run at 6:30. I often clean my house in the afternoon. Sometimes I watch TV, but I never watch TV too much. I hardly ever go to the movies.
2) Show the frequency on the screen :
always (100%) usually (80%) often (30-50%)
sometimes (20%) hardly ever (5%) never (0%)
Let the Ss read after the teacher and catch the meaning.
3) Drill
T: What do you do on weekends (show the pictures one by one and have the student answer like the following)
S1: I always do homework.
S2: I usually shop.
S3:…
4) Task One: Making cards

5) Listen
Play the recording the first time. Ss only listen. Play the recording a second tome. Point to the pictures. This time say. Listen to the conversation and write the letter of on e activity ( a through e) after the word in the list.(1b)

Closing: (5 minutes)
1) Making the same conversation of pictures (a-e)
A: What does she do on weekends
B: She often goes to the movies.
2) Change the conversation into a passage in class.
Assignment: 1) Recite the conversations in pairs.(Pictures a-e)
2) Collect some information about your favorite teacher with your partners, such as his or her personality, hobbies, eating habits and so on. Next class introduce this teacher to the class.
Evaluation:
1) Students’ activities on weekends will be remembered through the teacher’s observation of the group and class discussion.
2) Students’ speaking and writing skills will be evaluated by their oral presentation and written work.
3) Students’ cooperative ability will be evaluated through the teacher’s observation of their group work.
4) Students can express the frequency.
