Objectives:
To practise describing people and talking about jobs
To practice listening in order to identify opinions
To get familiar with different ways of giving opinions
To practice using suitable intonations in conversation

Teaching Process
◎ Warm-up:
Activity 1: Students look at a caricature of Zhou Runfa (an actor) and talk about his jobs and the personalities that an actor should have.
Activity 2: Students talk about what personalities should a teacher have.
◎ Pre-listening
Activity 3: Brainstorming: words for personality.
Students find more adjectives for personality.
Check the answers to exercise 3 and learn the new words.
Activity 4: Brainstorming: words for jobs.
Activity 5: students answer the questions: What job do you want to do Why / What characteristics have you got that are good for this kind of job
◎ Listening
Activity 6: Listen to a class discussion and answer the following questions.
1. Xiao Dong believes that computer programmers are not sociable but they have to be creative.
2. What characteristics do the students think that tour guides should have
They need to be __________, ____________ and ______________. They can deal with _____________________ and ___________.
(independent, communicative, well-organised, unexpected situations, problems)
3. Li Liang said, “They must never give up.” Which job is he talking about here

Activity 7: Listen again and find out the expressions of giving opinions. And this time the tape script is given.

Activity 8: Write down your personalities and you can discuss with your desk mates.
Read out your personalities in your group and the rest of the students suggest the right careers (jobs) for them.
