Step I. Review
1. Students sing the song “What’s this ” together.
2. Ask and answer about the concrete objects, like a toy, a cell phone, a telephone.
E.g. T: What’s this (Point to a telephone)
S: It’s a telephone.
T: Is this a telephone (Point to a cell phone)
S: No, it isn’t. It’s a cell phone.

Step II. Task 1 Presentation
1. Lead in the task and study new words.
The teacher shows an eraser, an orange etc. to the students near him and asks like this.
T: What’s this in English (Elicit students to answer it)
S: It’s a/an …
T: How do you spell it
S: … (Spell the word with students together)
Then the teacher shows the other concrete objects to the students far from him and asks like this.
T: What’s that in English
S: It’s a/an …

S: … (Spell the word with students together)
2. Find a student or more to come to the front, show the pictures or things and ask the others.
3. Students read and spell new words again.
Step III. Task 2 Listening
Listen to the tape on Page 21, 1a, read after it. And then make students to act the dialogs in pairs.
Step IV. Task 3 A guessing game and study the sentences.
The teacher hides a toy or a cell phone in a bag. Call the students attention to the bag, and then let students guess. “Is this/that a/an …” if the answer is wrong, the teacher says” No, it isn’t.” and guess again until the answer is right. So the teacher says” Yes, it is.” (The activity not only warms up the students but also provides a brief review of key vocabulary and target language presented in previous classes.)
Step V. Task 4 Talk with the partner and finish 1b on Page 21.
Step VI. Task 5 Compare the signal nouns with plural nouns and study the sentences.
Step VII. Task 6 Consolidate the sentences.
1. Divided the students into four groups. Show the pictures about the plural nouns ask and answer in groups.
2. Practice “what are these/those in English They are …” in pairs/teams /groups.
Step VIII. Finish 2b on Page 22.
Step IX. Class activities
Sing the song “Ten Little Boys.”
Step X. Make a summary about the language points in this class.

Make new sentences according to the models.
