【课标分析】
《初中英语课程标准》阐明基础教育阶段英语课程的任务是：激发和培养学生学习英语的兴趣，使学生树立自信心，养成良好的学习习惯和形成有效的学习策略，发展自主学习的能力和合作精神；使学生掌握一定的英语基础知识和听、说、读、写技能，形成一定的综合语言运用能力；培养学生的观察、记忆、思维、想象能力和创新精神；帮助学生了解世界和中西方文化的差异，拓展视野，培养爱国主义精神，形成健康的人生观，为他们的终身学习和发展打下良好的基础。
因此在英语教学中，教师应从学生“学”的角度来设计有意义的任务型教学活动，此类活动贴近学生的生活，学习经历和社会实际，能引起学生的共鸣，有利于激发学生积极参与的欲望和学习兴趣。同时，多样化的教学活动，如音图配对，对话表演，看图复述，小组讨论等有助于提高学生的各项语言技能，培养学生分析问题和解决问题的能力，有助于发展学生的个性，提高其智力水平。此外，教师还应帮助学生对比中西方文化，了解它们的差异。
【教材分析】
《牛津初中英语》8A教材信息量大，教学内容、信息贴近学生生活实际，且教材中出现的语言地道，符合英美英语表达习惯，语言口语化、符合学生年龄特点，渗透了跨文化的有关知识，注重了对学生进行跨文化意识和跨文化交际能力的培养；教材实用性强，所有话题与学生的生活相关，学生能学以致用，通过阅读能帮助学生提高学习能力。Starter 部分共分为6个模块，每个模块都涉及不同贴近生活的主题，每个主题下的4个单元就以不同的内容分别表现同一个主题。Module 5则体现出本教材的特点，本模块的主题是：change，而第三单元的主题“weather”也恰如其分地体现change这一主题。本课主题“weather”中的天气和季节的变化的内容贴切地体现change，且很贴近学生生活，能引起学生的兴趣，能让学生学以致用，让学生有话可说。此内容在Module 4的第3单元已有学习，能起承上启下的作用。
【学生分析】
所教的学生大部分学生基础一般，有一部分学生在英语学习过程中持被动和消极的态度，对英语的学习兴趣不高，主动性不高，未能积极参与课堂中的小组活动，口头表达能力较差；同时，也有一部分学生对英语的学习兴趣浓厚，学习积极性高，表现欲强，能积极参与课堂活动，但是知识掌握不够牢固，有混淆现象；表达时思路不开阔，条理欠清晰。所以英语课堂宜以多种教学形式如师生互动、小组讨论、头脑风暴等方式来激发学生学习兴趣，增强学生对英语的自信，并辅以适当的引导，以提高学生的英语能力水平。
【教学目标】
语言知识
1. 词汇: Weather words: sunny, rainy, cloudy, stormy, foggy, snowy ,warm, cool, hot, cold, dry, wet, humid; spring, summer, autumn, winter, temperature, degree;
2. 用形容词来描绘四季和天气的变化；
3. 用现在进行时来表达正在进行的事情;；
4. 用一般将来时来描述将要发生的事情和活动；
5. 熟悉如何根据天气信息，用天气相关的词语做天气预报。
语言技能
1. 能听懂接近正常语速、熟悉话题的语段，识别主题，获取主要信息（能听懂对天气的描述来确定季节并复述）；
2. 能在教师的帮助下或根据图片用简单的语言描述自己或他人的经历（描绘四季的不同天气和人们的活动）；
3. 能在教师的指导下参与角色扮演活动（能够根据已知的天气信息做天气预报员）。
情感态度
1. 培养学生对英语的学习兴趣和自信
2. 培养学生自主学习的能力和合作精神。
学习策略
1. 培养学生借助联想学习和记忆词语
2. 在学习中善于利用非语言信息（如图画）理解主题。
3. 引导学生思考，集中注意力在语义和主题上。
4. 培养学生对经过小组讨论形成的主要成果进行梳理、归纳、信息重组。
文化意识
通过激发学生了解英语国家如何表述天气的兴趣，培养学生了解英语国家文化的兴趣。
【教学重点与难点】

【教学过程】
Step I Warming up: weather words
1. Two students will perform a dialogue which is about the weather.
2. Ask the students to name as many weather words as possible and make competition in groups. (Weather words: sunny, rainy, cloudy, stormy, foggy, snowy, warm, cool, hot, cold, dry, wet, humid)
Step II Talk about the weather (pair work):
Ask the students to and make dialogues according to the information about different countries given on the screen.
1. A: What’s the weather like in _____
B: It is _____and_____.
2. A: How is the weather in …
B: It is _____and_____ .
Step III. Talk about the seasons.
Teacher asks some students to answer the following questions:
1. How many seasons are there in a year What are they
2. Which season do you like Why
3. What’s the weather like in this season
4. What do you usually do in this season
Step IV Listen and match
1. Play the recording and ask students to listen carefully and then match the numbers and seasons.
2. Ask the whole class to read after the recording while watching the pictures on the screen.
3. Invite some students and retell and describe the four seasons.
Step V Weather report
1. Look at the form with the information of “Day, Date, Weather, Temperature” and give an example of a weather report to the students.
2. Ask the students to follow the example and make a similar weather report with another form of information shown.
3. Ask some volunteers to be a weather man and try to make a weather report at the front.
Step Ⅵ Make a plan for a short trip for this weekend (group discussion)：
1. You will have a short trip with your friends this weekend. Where do you want to go What do you want to do Do you know the weather there this weekend
2. Call 12121 to ask about the weather, discuss where to go and how to spend this weekend in groups, and decide where to go for a short trip this weekend. (A map of the Pearl River Delta with the weather information of different cities shown )
3. Invite the students to come to the front and perform their discussion.
Step Ⅶ Homework
1. Watch TV and write a weather report for Shenzhen.
2. Write a composition: the weather in Shenzhen. (80 words)
【教学反思】
本课以任务型的教学方式来展开，通过师生互动、学生自主学习、合作学习等活动形式，结合音图配对，对话表演，看图复述，小组讨论等课堂活动，以激发学生的学习兴趣，培养学生的语言能力。
1、本课话题贴近生活，课堂活动形式多样，难易程度适中，有利于调动学生积极性；
2、本节课教学思路较清晰、设计各环节过渡较自然，层层深入，能由浅入深引导学生学习知识，但在课堂结束前，不够时间引导学生对本节课所学内容进行小结。
3、大部分学生学习兴趣浓厚，学习积极性高，能主动积极参与课堂活动，参与面较广，课堂气氛活跃，少数学困生在组员的激励和帮助下，也能开口参与讨论。
4、学生能较好地掌握语言知识，听、说、读等语言技能方面能得到训练，但写作能力的培养有所欠缺。
5、本节课在Weather Report这一部分适度地对教材进行调整与整合。课文要求学生根据天气预报来提取相关的日期、天气和温度等信息，而课堂活动要求学生关于不同国家天气情况的文字表述来进行天气预报，虽活动难度提高了，但活动的趣味性和挑战性却激发了学生的兴趣，同时也更好地锻炼了学生的能力。
