Objectives:Most students would be able to make invitation as well as accept and decline invitation. Learning & teaching content:Vocabulary: on Saturday afternoon; go to the doctor;have a piano lesson; help my parents; visit my aunt.Structure: Can you come to my party Sure /yes, I’d love to. Sorry, I can’t. I have to … Intercultural communication awareness:In English speaking countries when you receive an invitation you should reply at once whether you can come or not. If you can’t make the decision at that time, you may say,” May I let you know this evening ” Or some such words.However, in China it is much more casual in the matter of replying to invitations. People sometimes even decline the invitation just before the party.Method instruction :Cooperative learning, Study learning. 中西方文化差异:在西方国家,当你收到邀请时,一般要立刻回复。如果真得决定不下,也要在短时间内尽快回复,临时爽约被视为不礼貌。而中国人在这方面更随意些。
Focuses:Can you come to my party Sure/ Yes, I’d love to .I’m sorry, I can’t. I have to ….The use of “ have to”Present continuous as future tense for planned actions (1)用can 来提出邀请,如何接受邀请和拒绝邀请,并且陈述原因。(2)用have to 来谈论职责和义务(3)以现在进行时来表达已计划的行动。
Difficulties:The use of “ can”;The use of “ have to “现在进行时表示将来的用法。

After greeting, ask students :What day is it today What’s the date today What’s the weather like today What’s your birthday Students answer the questions and say out when their birthday are.My birthday is ….

Step 2 Presentation
Ss say their plans for weekend:S1: I am studying for test.S2: I am going to the doctor. … …S1: I have to have a piano lesson.S2: I have to visit my aunt.S3: I have to help my prents.…. 1. Present some phrases of daily activities (Show the pictures of some activities)T: I am really busy this week. I need to relax myself the weekend. So I want to go to the movies. It is my plan for weekend. What are you doing this weekend 2. Present “ have to ”: (Show some pictures of activities again) I can go to the movies because I am free this weekend. But next weekend I will not be free any more. I have to go to the doctor.(Write the phrases on the Bb.)What do you have to do

设计说明:引出本课的重点句型“Can you come to my party ” “Sure, I’d love to” “Sorry, I can’t.” 学生通过和老师的对话掌握句型的用法。同时渗透文化交际意识。在西方国家,对于他人的邀请一般要立刻做出答复。 复习表示活动的短语并引导学生礼貌拒绝他人邀请的同时给出合适的理由。
Step 4 Practice
Ss invite their friends to the birthday party with the sentences patters. Ask students to invite friends to the party.
设计说明:学生之间对话,巩固刚才所学的句型。
Step 5 Listening and Imitating
1a. Ss match the words with pictures.1b. Ss listen to the tape then write the names next to the correct students in the picture who were mentioned. And find out why they can’t go to Bob’s birthday party.3. Ss listen and imitate the conversation after the tape. 1. Read the conversation in the speech bubbles with a student. Ask Ss to explain the conversation in their own words.2. Focus attention on the phrases and ask Ss to repeat them.3. Check the answers with Ss

Step 6 Work in pairs
Ss make the similar dialogues in pairs. Present a dialogue:A: Can Jenny come to the party S: Yes, she can. /No / Sorry, she can’t. She has to help her parents. Then ask Ss to make the similar dialogue.
设计说明:将第三人称单数引入本课的重点句型,进一步强化学生对句型的运用。
Step 7 A game
Ss do a guessing game “ What do I have to do this weekend ”S1 choose one and act out the phraseS2:Do you have to finish your homework S1: No, I don’t.S2: Do you have to help your parents S1: Yes, you are right. Now It’s your turn.… Take out some small pieces of paper with some phrases written on. Ask a student to choose a piece of paper and act the phrases out. The others guess what he has to do for this weekend.
设计说明:安排这个游戏是为了让学生进一步掌握情态动词have to 的用法和意义,并且再次复习了一些常用的动词词汇。
Step 8 Groupwork
Ss practice the conversations in groups.S1: Good morning, Linda.S2: Hi, Jack. What a nice day!S1:Yes, isn’t it Oh, tomorrow is my Ask a group of Ss to demonstrate a conversation using the phrases from Section A 1a.

1. Revise the new words and sentence patterns.2. Finish off Homework A.3. Write a conversation on their according to the one in groupwork.
