Language Goal
In this unit Ss learn to talk about how often they do things.
New language: What do they usually do on weekend
How often do you / does she study I often study / She often studies.

1. Talk about “How often” you do things (free time activities)
2. Adverbs of frequency: always, usually, often, sometimes, hardly ever, never; once / twice / three times… week / month / year
3. Get Ss to know the importance to have good English studying habits and how to improve English.
4. Present some new words from Section B.

Step 1: Presentation
1. Greetings after two-month holiday, talk about what they did and how often they did them to present some new words and patterns:
Hello, nice to see you ! Did you have a good summer vocation

(1) Present (also on Bb): exercise (v)---do sports surf the Internet
watch TV---What’s your favorite program

(2) Then ask and present: How often did you go swimming

2. Ask using the Simple Present about what they often do and how often they do these free time activities.
(1)T: Does your mother often shop How often does she shop
Then: How often does she watch TV / surf the Internet
(2) Do pairwork to find out: What does your partner’s mother usually do How often does she do it
(3) Then report out.
T: Different people have different lifestyle. Is your partner’s mother’s lifestyle the same as your mother’s or different
What are the differences
Step2: Look, listen and say
1. Section A (1). 1a. Look at the picture and make a list of the
different weekend activities.
(2) 1b. Listen to the tape and write the activities from 1a.
2. Compare the Adverbs of frequency:
(1) always / usually / often / sometimes
(2) once / twice / three…times a week / month…
(3) 1c. Do pairwork to talk about what the people in the picture do on weekend. Add: How often does she / he…
(4) Then read the listening materials. Present: interviewer
3. T: Listen to Cheng and the reporter. Cheng is talking about how often he does different activities.
(1) 2a. Listen and number the activities.
(2) 2b. Listen again: How often does he do these activities
Match them with the number of times he does them.
(3) Read the listening materials.
Step 3: Practice
1. Ask Ss: What do you usually do in your free time
Then do some practice: How often do you do these…
(1) 2c.Write down more activities and “How often” about yourself
(2) Then make conversation in pairs.

You see, I look after my health. Although I’m busy, my healthy lifestyle helps me to work better.
