Facts about Zhalong
There are many wetlands (湿地)in China. The government (政府)wants to protect the wetlands because they provide (提供)food and shelter (栖息处)for plants and animals, including different kinds of birds. Some of China’s wetlands became the world’s important wetlands. One of them is Zhalong Nature Reserve. It entered the list in 1992. The reserve covers an area of more than 210,000 hectares(公顷). It is in Heilongjiang Province in north-east China. Many endangered (有危险的)birds live in Zhalong. The birds eat fish. They also eat worms (虫子)and plants in the wetlands. There are not many red-crowned cranes in the world, but you can find some in Zhalong. Zhalong is a very good place to go birdwatching.
