If you go into the woods with your friends, stay with them. If you don’t, you may get lost. If you do get lost, though, this is what you should do.
Sit down and stay where you are. Don’t try to find your friends---Let them find you. You can help them to find you by staying in one place.
There is another way to help your friends or other people nearby to find you. Give
them a signal by shouting or whistling three times. Stop. Then shout or whistle three
times again. Any signal given three times is a call for help. You will be helped by others.
Keep up the shouting or whistling, always three times together. When people hear
you, they will let you know they have heard your signal. They will gibe two shouts, two
whistles or two gun shots. When a signal is giben twice, it is an answer to a call for help.
If you don’t think that you will get help before night comes, try to make a little
house and cover up the holes with branches with lots of leaves and grass.
What would you do if you get hungry or need drinking water You would have to

Today, people all over the world are moving out of small villages in the country to go
and live in big, noisy cities. They are moving from the peaceful hills, mountains, fields,
rivers and streams of the countryside to the busy would of streets, buildings, traffic and
crowds. This movement from rural areas to urban areas has been going on for over two
hundred years.
In many countries, the main reason people come to live in towns and cities is work.
After one or two large factories have been built in or near a town, people come to find
work. And soon an industrial area begins to grow. There is usually a residential area nearby,
where the factory workers can live. The families of these workers need schools, hospitals
and shops, so more people come to live in the area to provide these services and a city grows.
In every major city in the world, there is a business district where the big companies
have their main offices. In the United States, this area is usually in the city center downtown.
It is here that you can see the huge skyscraper office blocks. The people who work here often
travel a long way to work each day. Many of them live in the suburbs of the city, far away
from the industrial area and the city center. Some suburbs are very pleasant, with nice
houses and big gardens. There are usually parks for children to play in and large
department stores where you can buy all you need.
But what is the future of the big cities Will they continue to get bigger and bigger
Perhaps not. Some major cities have actually become smaller in the last ten years, and it
is quite possible that one day we will see people moving out of the major cities and back
into smaller towns and villages.

luckier, only about one in two hundred is affected in this matter. Perhaps, after all, it is
safer to be driven by a woman!
There are different forms of color blindness. In some cases a man can not be able to
see deep red. He may think that red, orange and yellow are all shades of green. Sometimes
a person cannot tell the difference between blue and green. In rare cases an unlucky man
may see everything in shades of a green strange world indeed.
Color blindness in human beings is a strange thing to explain. In a single eye there are
millions of very small things called’cones”. These help us to see in a bright light and to
tell difference between colors. There are also millions of “rods”but these are used for
Seeing when it is nearly dark. They show us shape but no color.
Some insects have favorite colors. Mosquitoes(蚊子)like blue but do not like yellow. A red light will not attract insects, but a blue lamp will, in a similar way human beings also have favorite colors. Yet we are lucky. With the aid of the cones in aid of he rods we can see shapes at night. One day we may even learn more about the invisible colors around.
