Teaching objectives:
To master the new words and expressions.
To improve the students’ reading comprehension.
To practise making notes of the important information from a reading text.
Teaching procedure:
Step 1: Revision:
Go over the dialogue learnt last period.(practise reading it)
Check the homework. (exrcise book)
Step 2: Introduction:
T: We know that Karl Marx was a very famous person.
Can you tell me what he was famous for (=What do you know about him )
S: (several students)
( his great theory-Marxism, his study of foreign languages, etc.)
T: Whom do you think of while mentioning Karl Marx
S: (Several students)
( Engels, Lenin, Trotsky,etc)
T: What do you expect to learn about Karl Marx from this unit
S: (several students)
Step 3: New word:
Teach the new words of lesson 82.
Get individual students to read them.
Step 4: Reading:
Divide the students into four groups. Ask each group to read one or two paragraghs of the passage. Several minutes later, get the students to ask questions about the topic, the answers to which couldn’t be found in their own paragraghs. And the group who know the answers should make response.

Step 5: Listening and reading
Play the tape of the passage for the students to listen and read. And then ask them to fill in the following form in small groups of six. To see which group can finish it faster and better than other groups.

His advice on how to learn a foreign language When people are learning a foreign language, they should not translate everything into their own language. When they use the foreign language, they should try to forget all about their own.
Step 6: Ask the students to read the last two paragraphs and recite them.
Step 7: Exercise:
Do workbook exercise 2 in class.
Ask the students to say out their sentences one by one.
Check their answers.
Step 8: Summary:
Go over the passage learnt in this period.
Step 9: Assignment:
Copy the new words.
Finish workbook exercise 1.
Finish exercise 3 in the exercise book.
