The First Period Warming up &Listening
一、Teaching goals 教学目标
1. 语言知识目标
1)词汇: honest, loyal, smart,brave, wise, handsome, argue
2)重点句型: A) I think a good friend should be…

2. 语言技能目标
通过本课的学习,培养学生良好的听、说、读、写能力。使学生能够运用所学语言描述朋友或他人的特征。
3. 情感目标
1).激发并提高学生学习英语的兴趣,勇于尝试;体现课堂教学“主体者”的身份,积极主动参与教学各环节,成为学习的主人;具有个性,培养创造能力。
2)指导学生形成良好的“朋友观”,培养学生交往能力,在建立正确的交友观基础上,积极与他人交往。
3)培养同学之间日常融洽相处的感情,乐于合作。
二、Teaching important points 教学重点
1、运用所给的形容词和句型来描述其中一位好朋友。
2、通过听三个不同情景的对话完成句子。

1、与同伴相互合作,并对其中一位好朋友进行描述。
2、与同伴一起讨论并找到解决朋友之间的问题的方法。

六、Teaching steps 教学步骤
Step 1 Leading in
T: Welcome to our school, everyone. You have a new school, new teachers and new classmates. Would you like to make new friends with each other
Ss:Yes.
Step 2 Words competition
T: Do you have any friends
Ss:Yes,we do.
T: What do your friends like (Ask two or three students to answer.)
T: OK,now let’s play a word game.I’ll give a piece of paper to each group,and every one of you will write down as many adjectives to describe friends as you can in five minutes.Let’s see which group can write down the most words.
(Students write some adjectives to describe friends on the paper of their group.)
Step 3 Warming up
T: (After checking their answers) Well done! Congratulations to Group… You are the winers. Now let me tell you something about my good friends.
(Hold up two photos of my good friends and take turn to describe them.)
T: This is my friend Mr Li.I think he is a handsome man .Do you think so (Teach the word handsome.) He is honest because he never tells lies.(Teach the word honest.) He is not afraid of danger or difficulty,so I think he is a brave man. (Teach the word brave.) I think he is wise,because he always has very clever ideas when others do not know what to do. (Teach the word wise.)
T: And this is Mrs Ou. She is smart and loyal.She is my best friend,and we hardly ever argue with each other. (Teach the words smart,loyal and argue.)
T: OK, it’s your turn to talk about friends.Now let’s do some pair work.First,look at page 1. There are some words that can be used to describe a friend. Look through them quickly and think about which words you would like to choose to describe a 5-star friend.Then Tell your partner your opinion by using the following sentence patterns:

(Students work with partners.)
T: (After students finish the task) OK,you have talked a lot about your friends.What should a good friend be like What qualities should a good friend have Should they be funny,smart or strong Now who can tell me your opinion

T: You have talked much about good friends, and I think I will be one of your good friends, of course, I am not the smartest, but I am helpful; I am not the strongest, but I am kind; I am not the most beautiful, but I am honest. OK! I have described myself, your new friend. Now it’s your turn to describe yourselves and one of your good friends. Tell the class your decision, using the following patterns:
I’m __________, __________ and _________. I think he / she is _________, __________ and ___________.

Step 4 Listening
T: Good friends are helpful, they can bring you happiness, but sometimes they will bring you some trouble too, because you can’t agree with each other on everything, so, of course, you will argue with them. Have you ever argued with your good friends
Ss:Yes!
T: Now let’s listen to this kind of argument between two friends. Please pay attention to what they are arguing about. And how do you think to solve their problem
For the first time, just focus on the problem in each situation. Write down some key words as quickly as possible.
(Listen again and check the answers with the whole class. Listen for the third time if necessary.)
T: OK, we have already known the problems in these three situations. Next, please discuss with your partners and try to find out the solutions to each problem.
Share your ideas on how to solve the problem with the whole class.
Ss: Situation One: I think Peter should try to get there on time next time.
Situation Two: I think Ann should ask for permission first if she wants to borrow something from others and she should return things in time.
Situation Three: I think Adam can ask his uncle to mend it and he should be more careful with borrowed things.
Step 5 Summary
T: Today we have learnt how to describe a friend and how to solve problems between friends.As we know ,friends are very important to any person.We can live without a brother, but not without a friend.So we should treat our friends well,and do what we should do to be a good friend. I hope all of us can be good friends with each other soon. Do you agree with me
Step 6 Homework
T:For the homework, you have two options:
1. Write a short introduction about one of your best friends.
2. Describe one of the problems between you and one of your friends and how it is solved.
Step 7 Sing a song
T:At the end of our class,let’s sing the song “Friend”( By Zhou Huajian.)
