There are many problems connected with space travel. The first and greatest of them is gravity. If you let your pencil drop to the floor, you can see gravity in action. Everything is held down to the earth by magnetic(磁) force. The weight of something is another way of describing the amount of force taking place on it by gravity. A rocket must go at least 2,500 miles an hour to take anyone out of the gravity of the earth into space.
Once out of the earth’s gravity, an astronaut is affected by still another problem----weightlessness. Here, if a pencil drops, it does not fall. If a glass of water is turned upside down, the water will not fall out. All of us who are used to gravity expect things to have weightless conditions.
Recent long flights have shown that the body needs special exercise in a spaceship.
60. A ripe( 成熟)apple will fall to the earth by_______.
A. itself ’s force B. earth’s force C. magnetic force D. gravity
61. As a rocket leaves the ground, an astronaut feels a force called_______.

Many cities around the world today are heavily polluted. Careless methods of production and lack of consumer demand for environment friendly products have contributed to the pollution problem. One result is that millions of tons of glass, paper, plastic, and metal containers are produced, and these are difficult to get rid of.
However, today, more and more consumers are choosing “green” and demanding that the products they buy should be safe for the environment. Before they buy a product, they ask questions like these: “Will this shampoo damage the environment?” “Can this metal container be reused or can it only be used once?”
A recent study showed that two out of five adults now consider the environmental safety of a product before they buy it. This means that companies must now change the way they make and sell their products to make sure that they are “green”, that is, friendly to the environment.
Only a few years ago, it was impossible to find green products in supermarkets, but now there are hundreds. Some supermarket products carry labels (标签) to show that the product is green. Some companies have made the manufacturing (生产) of clean and safe products their main selling point and emphasize it in their advertising.
The concern for a safer and cleaner environment is making companies rethink how they do business. No longer will the public accept the old attitude of “Buy it, use it, throw it away, and forget it.” The public pressure is on, and gradually business is cleaning up its act.
64. It becomes clear from the text that the driving force (动力) behind green products is________.
A. public caring for environment B. companies’ desire for bigger sales
C. new ways of doing business D. rapid growth of supermarkets
65. What would be the best title for the text?
A. Business and People B. Business Goes Green
C. Shopping Habits Are Changing D. Supermarkets and Green Products
66. The underlined word “it” in the fourth paragraph refers to________.

C. a great demand for health D. the manufacturing of green products

Escaping a fire is a serious matter, knowing what to do during a fire can save a life. It is important to know the way you can use and show them to everyone in the family, such as stairs and fire escapes, but not lifts. From the lower floors of building, escape through windows is possible. Learn the best way of leaving by window with the least chance of serious injury.
The second floor window is usually not very high from the ground. A person of average height, hanging by the fingertips will have a drop of about 6 feet to the ground. It is about the height of an average man. Of course, it is safer to jump a short way than to stay in a burning building.
Windows are also very useful when you are waiting for help. Be sure to keep the door closed before opening the window. Otherwise, smoke and fire may be down into the room. Keep your head low at the window to be sure you get enough fresh air rather than smoke that may have leaked into the room.
On a second or third floor, the best windows for escape are those which open onto a roof. From the roof a person can drop to the ground more safely. Dropping onto the cement might end in injury. Bushes and grass can help to break a fall.

According to a survey made last week, most middle school students only have an average of less than 7 hours' sleep each night, much less than required. There are several reasons for this. First of all, the students are burdened with too much homework. Another important reason is that schools and parents pay less attention to their sleep. But, in fact, this will be harmful to their health. So we must take some measures to stop this. First, less homework should be given to the students by teachers or parents. Second, more attention should be paid to their health. Third, the living conditions for them should be improved.

Text 10
Many years ago a laborer sat down to rest on the sidewalk in a downtown area. He took off his hat, held it in his hand and started to sleep lightly. People walking by started dropping money into the hat. When he woke up he found in the hat more money than he had earned during the day as a laborer. He became a professional beggar and was then able to live comfortably.
This kind of giving encourages laziness and fails to help those who really need help. It is much better that these people enter their names in some organizations where they will be cared for and given work to gain their self - respect. ff we collect our contributions and give them to the organizations, we will help to get rid of the unnecessary beggars in our city.
