By 22:00pm, the number of people who were killed in the earthquake had reached 1,670. As many as
3, 924 people were injured. Over 2,000 people were trapped in the fallen buildings and hundreds of people were still missing. A great number of people had lost their homes/ were homeless. The earthquake had the electricity cut off, the traffic stopped and a great many buildings and bridges were destroyed. It was the most terrible one in the history of Taiwan.
