There could be thousands of reasons why being a female is a hard thing. A lot of girls will probably talk about puberty （青春期） or make-up, but for me it’s different. The hardest thing about being a female would be the way we have to consider, especially as we are getting older and growing up.
I used to be a tomboy and a part of me still is. I love playing basketball and love the fact that I can beat a lot of guys when I play with them. However, the part that I don’t like is that my parents complain to me about the way I dress and talk and the people I play with. This is a rather strange story but it is quite true. In December 1996, a burglar broke into a golf club in a small town. Television has become an important part of our daily life. Many children like to watch TV. They say they can get a lot of fun as well as information which is useful to their studies from watching TV. Also watching TV can relax them when they feel tired. Besides, watching some educational programmes is also a kind of study.
But on the contrary, some of the parents are against their children’s watching TV. They say watching TV usually takes too much time, which is not good for children’s studies. Nor is it good for their eyes. What’s worse, there are too many programmes about love and violence on TV, and these programmes are not suitable for the kids.
In my opinion, what we should blame is not TV itself. In fact, parents should guide their children on how to make good use of television and try to avoid its bad effects.

Each year the board of governors of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences selects a candidate to receive its most important award, the Governor’s Award. The recipient of this year’s award is a man whose career in television is so monumental in terms of length and public acceptance that he is truly unique in his field. Many labels have been attached to him over the years by fans, television critics, and heads of state. President Kennedy called him “America’s most prized ambassador of good will throughout the world” when he awarded him the Congressional Gold Medal.
Tonight we honor him for his contribution to television. Few people would even think of beginning a new job at the age of 76, but one of America’s most famous artists did just that. Anna Mary Robertson, better known as “Grandma Moses” turned to painting because she was too old to work on her farm.
Grandma Moses painted carefully and her works were nice. She first painted only to please herself, and then began to sell her works for a little money. In 1939, a collector, Louis Caldor happened to see several of Grandma Moses’ works hanging in a shop. He liked them, bought them at once, and set out to look for more. Caldor held a show to introduce the works of Grandma Moses to other artists.
Grandma Moses died on December 13, 1961, at the age of 101. She was world famous.
