Margery was a student majoring in art. When she was studying in an academy
of music far away from her small hometown. She was missing her family. She
was especially sorry for her father who wanted her to be a student of chemistry.
To please her father on his fifitieth birthday, Margery decided to get a surprise
gift for him. She had thought about a becautiful tie, and expensive shirt, or a
fashion watch. but all these seemed too common-place. When she looked at the
recent pictures fo her parents, she noticed that her father's hair was beginning
to turn pepper-and-salt. Suddenly an AD she had read two days before struck
her. It said that a certain factory had developed a new toothpaste which claimed
that it could turn grey hair into black after three months of application. She
immediately got the special past at a high price and sent it to her father.
Ten days later, she got this reply from her father,"I'm so pleased to get your
surprise gift,Thank you very much for your consideration, but for the past
three months I've been using a set of artificial teeh. Anyhow, the expensive
toothpaste will serve your mother."Home work:
