Yichang covers a total area of 21,084 square kilometers and has a population of 4.136 million. Most of the people belong to the Han nationality, while 9.5% belong to Tujia minority.
Yichang has a mild land climate. Spring and autumn are longer than summer and winter. It's hot in summer and there's much rain, while it's cold in winter and there's little rain.
There are various local specialities in Yichang, especially the high-quality tea-leaves and oranges.
Yichang is well known as a tourist city. The tourism sceneries include natural scenery, scenic spots, and historical sites. The Three Gorges Dam is one of the most attracting sites. With its natural beauty, mountains and rivers, Yichang attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world every year.
