I.The Intention of the Teaching Design:
In this period students can read two emails whose topic is “ Dying to be thin---” and learn Army’s story of losing weight and his failing in the end. By reading, students can improve their abilities of reading and understanding. By doing the given exercises and discussing related questions, students can understand the reading material further and form an appropriate attitude towards losing weight, especially for teenagers. Through the designed problems, the teacher guides students to know beauty comes in many ways. We should accept what we are and appreciate what we are. What’s more, being healthy, energetic and optimistic is the most important and the most beautiful as well.
二、The Design of Teaching :

Teaching Aims Knowledge and Skills: To improve the students’ reading ability by predicting, identifying the given information and so on.Process and Strategies:Read the text for informationFinish the given reading tasksDiscuss to form an appropriate attitude towards losing weight.A competition to learn more about health and beauty.3. Feeling and Value: Enlarge the students’ knowledge and make them think about health and beauty.
Teaching Important Points 1.Train the students’ abilities of speaking, reading and thinking in English. 2.Help the students understand how to be healthy and have a right attitude towards what is beauty and the problem about losing weight.
Teaching Difficult Points Read the passage and finish the given tasks.

Step One Lead-in1. Show the flashes and get the students to find why some people are fat.
2. Encourage the students to give the fat some advice to lose weight.3.Discussion: (1)Is taking weight-loss pills a good way to lose weight (2) What side-effects does it have, do you know Step Two Reading1. Choose two students to read the emails while the others listen carefully.2. Get the students to answer the questions in Part A and guess the meaning of “ Dying to be thin---”.3. Design some exercises to help students understand the reading further. (1).Tell the sentences ( on the screen ) true or false.(2).Choose the best answer according to the emails. Beauty is truth,truth beauty…Step Six SummaryToday we did some reading and learnt that health is above everything else in some way. We should value it . Use some flashes to draw students’attention to the class quickly and arouse their interest in the topic—Looking good and feeling good.Create situations for studentsto solve the practical problem.The discussion can inspire the students with interest in reading for information.1.Develop the top students’ strongpoint in reading aloud.2.Improve the students’Comprehension.Guide students to value health and be careful with losing weight.By listening and reading aloud, the students can understand the text better and improve their pronunciationand intonation.Help students form a right attitude towards beauty and understand how to look good and feel good,Enlarge students’knowledge and get them to have a better understanding of beauty and health..A 45-minute lesson is just a complete little poem. Without any of the three-beginning body and ending, it would not be perfect.The best way to learn English is to use it.The writing on the blackboard is the soul of the class.Today what we read and discussed about is all based on it.

The teaching material comes directly from our real life so students are familiar with it. Students show great interest in all the designed activities. While conducting the activities, I pay special attention to the top students and the students with problems in learning English. On one hand, I must make sure the top students can develop their strongpoints further. On the other hand, I should keep the latter students up and make sure they can also enjoy success. As for the average students, I focus more on their pair work and group work. So the whole teaching design is conducted in response to the demand of every student. It is a teaching design which reflects the spirit of
English teaching of the time.
The teaching design has the following characteristics:

Pay more attention students’ autonomy.
