Warming up and Pre-reading
Teaching Aims:
1. Learn something about the natural disasters and Tangshan Earthquake.
2. Help them realize that something can be done to minimize or avoid the damage caused by the earthquake.
3. Improve the Ss’ reading skills
Teaching Procedures:
Pre-task:
1. Ask the Ss to surf the internet and get the information about the natural disasters, especially the earthquakes.
2. Learn the new words by themselves before class.

(1) Read newspapers these days and try to find some new information about natural disasters especially about earthquakes in the world, tell Ss these news and discuss it. (3 mins)
