Unit 10.lesson 38 My views on my part-time job
Good afternoon, everyone ! I’m an English teacher from PingYang Vocational Education Centre. I’m really very happy to stand here to communicate with you about my lesson. And today the lesson that I’m dealing with is Unit 10 lesson 38 in book two. The topic is My views on my part-time job.
Part 1 . Analysis of the Teaching Material
Status and function
I want to talk about this part from three points
1. This is an important lesson in book two. It starts asking the students to attain “four skills” request of listening, speaking, reading and writing. To start with “word bank” and tell the students to remember the new words.
2. This lesson is the reading part of the unit. If the student can learn it well, it will be very significant for them to understand the whole unit very well.
3. Such a topic is deeply related to the students’ daily life. So it is very easy to arouse students’ learning interests and enrich their knowledge about the part-time job.
Part2. Analysis of the students
So far, the students have learnt English for half a year. They can understand some words and adapt some simple reading methods. They can practice these in the lesson and they will learn some new skills in the lesson.
Part3.Teaching aims and demands
According to the vocational school syllabus’ provision and the current level of the students, I concentrate on the following teaching aims and demands.
1. The knowledge objects are to learn some new words and phases. and to understand some difficult sentences.
2. The ability objects are to train the students reading abilities about how to find the related information according to the questions and how to guess the words meaning according to the context. And also to improve their abilities of cooperation and communication.
3. The moral objects are to help the students enjoy the excitement of learning English and also can encourage them to spend their spare time meaningfully.
Part 4.Teaching key points and difficult points
According to the lesson in the teaching material’s position and function as well as the current level of the students , I think
1. The teaching key points should be how to let the students remember the new words and phrases in the text. Because the new vocabulary is often the barrier in reading.
2. Teaching difficult points
In reading, the most difficult thing is how to lead the students to understand the text attentively. So in order to let them do this, I must encourage them to communicate and to cooperate with each other freely.
Part 5.Teaching methods and aids
In order to let the students learn the text very well and make them work actively and effectively, I focus on the following teaching methods and aids.

I will explain the teaching methods and aids in detail in the following teaching procedure.
Part 6. Learning method
In my teaching, I realize that the students must be the master of the class. Thus they can gain the knowledge of one’s own accord every now and then. So I use the following learning method
1. let the students know how to communicate and cooperate with each other freely.
2. let the students practice the reading abilities of concluding , scanning, skimming and so on.
Part 7.Teaching procedure
Now it’s time for the most import part –teaching procedure. I will finish this part in seven steps.
Step1.Warming up and lead-in (it will take us 3-5minutes)
Activity look and talk
In order to let the students show interest in the lesson, and set a good foundation for the rest learning, this part is very important, I think. So I start with a short movie from in which they can watch a student busy doing a job after school, and I’ll ask a question: “What is he doing and what is his job ”
You know, as a teenager student, he will be pleased to watch cartoon which can arouse his curiosity in the lesson, and also, the movie and the questions will make them get the topic of the lesson .
And then I will show them the following questions to have a free talk
1. Do you have an experience of having a part- time job
2. If you have a chance to do a part-time job, which job do you choose and why
3. Do you think the part-time job is a must for the students
After their performing, I will say: ok, these are your opinions, now let’s look at what the writer’ opinion is .With this, we get into the reading part naturally.
Step2.While-reading (this part will take us about 15minutes)
Activity 1 Get the Ss to scan the whole text and find out the writer’s opinions about the part-time job . and at the same time , I will limit the time to let them find the information in the limited time.
Purpose : it will enable the students to get information quickly and grasp the main idea of the text in a short time. To practice their reading ability of scanning. When they get the main idea of the text. they will not feel the reading is very difficult and set a good foundation for the rest reading.
Activity 2: Get the Ss to skim the text and find out the supporting ideas about the writer’s opinion.
I will give them one true of false according to every paragraph aims at reducing the difficulty of the reading.
Purpose. It will enable the students understand how the passage develop and can understand the text further.
Activity .3. listen to the tape and read the text carefully, and answered the detail information to answer some question.
1. How much do we usually get from our parents per month
2. What does the part-time job give us
3. What does the text tell us to do ,in order to keep contact with the society

In order to overcome the shyness and laziness of the students in the classroom, before the careful reading, I will tell them: after reading, we’ll play a game. There’s a doll in my hand, when I begin beating the blackboard, the students pass the doll one by one. And when I stop, who has the doll will stand up and answer my question. If he answers my questions correctly, I will give it a gift as a prize that I have already prepared.
Purpose: To make the students read the text carefully and also can make the class actively.
Step 3 vocabulary Practice
Get the Ss to read the new words carefully follow me .and then I will choose some words. Let the students guess the meaning. For example:
1. What does the word “share” mean in the first paragraph
I will give them the circumstance to help them to guess the word: If today, you didn’t bring your textbook, I will say, you can “share” the book with your neighbor. Thus they can get it. At the same time write the phrase “share something with sb” on the blackboard. Let them practice it through building a sentence.
Purpose this can practise the student’s ability of guessing words according to the context. And building the sentence can make the students consolidate the new words and phrase in time.
Step 4 Retelling (Paragraph by Paragraph)( it will take us about 5minutes)
Activity: Encourage the Ss to retell the text, at the same time, show some key words and phrases on the blackboard to help them.
It will practise the students reading ability of concluding. And practise the new words and phrase that they have learnt just now.
Step 5 Consolidation (it will take us about 10 minutes)
Activity: An interview between two students. One of them is in interviewer, the other is the writer. The interviewer asks the question about the part-time job and the writer answers according to the text.
Purpose: it will help students to understand the text very deeply. At the same time cultivate them practise their speaking in public. Also let the students understand the significance of part-time job when they practicing.
Step 6 Homework
Write a letter back to the writer, and tell the writer what your opinion about the part-time job.
Purpose: it can practise the students writing and at the same time understand that the significance of the part-time job.
Part 7. Blackboard Design

注: 说课应注意
1. 教学重难点及目标的设定要根据学情(学生的实际情况)
2. 教学教法要融入教学步骤.( 每一个教学步骤采取何种教学方法, 这样作的目的, 培养学生哪一方面的目标技能都要加以阐明)
3. 在分析教材时所提到的教学手段与辅助手段在教学步骤中也要一一体现.
4. 在陈述教学步骤时忌用套式.要体现出自己的教学风格.表现出自己的亮点.让别人知道你是怎么教会学生的.要体现学生从不会到会的过程.
5. 还说课以说课,不要背课.太死板.目的在于交流
6. 说课时,语速不要太快, 语句的表达要清晰, 指示要明确.要让评委听明白.
7. 说课不用 “say the lesson”, 而是绕着弯去表达,如“communicate with you about my teaching plan of the lesson.”
