Both Japan and the United States are warning North Korea against testing a new long-range missile (导弹) capable of reaching North America. “There is no good that can come from launching a North Korean missile. It will only isolate (隔离) the North Koreans further from the rest of the international community.” Thomas Schieffer, the U.S. ambassador to Japan, said Saturday.
Eight years ago, the rogue communist government shocked the world when it fired a long-range missile over Japan and into the Pacific Ocean.
The North Korean government has denied a test of the Taepodong-2 missile is forthcoming, but a South Korean newspaper reported Saturday that about 10 fuel tanks have been moved to the launch site. However, a South Korean foreign ministry spokesman couldn’t confirm the report.
The Kyodo News agency of Japan reported Saturday that the North Koreans plan to describe the missile test as a satellite launch as it did eight years ago.
There have been talks involving six nations-North and South Korea, China, Russia, Japan and the United States-but those have been delayed by a North Korean boycott. “We hope the North Koreans will not take this action and return to the six-party talks, as those talks can still be productive,” Schieffer said. If North Korea goes ahead with the test, Schieffer would only say, “all options are on the table.”
Taro also, Japan’s foreign minister, described the situation as serous. North Korea is one of the world’s two nuclear hotspots. The other is Iran.

Healthy relationships are fun and make you feel good about yourself. The relationships that you make in your teenage years will be a special part of your life. They will teach you some of the most important lessons about who you are. This may help you understand different kinds of relationships, what makes each relationship special, and how to communicate in a positive way.
What makes a relationship healthy?
Communication and Sharing: The most important part of any healthy relationship between two people is being able to talk and listen to each other. You and the other person can find out what your common interests are. You can share your feelings with the other person and trust that he or she will be there to listen to you and support you. In healthy relationships, people don’t lie. Communication is based on honesty and trust. By listening carefully and sharing your thoughts and feelings with other people, you show them that they play an important part in your life.
Respect and Trust: In healthy relationships, you learn to respect and trust important people in your life. Disagreements may still happen, but you learn to stay calm and talk about how you feel. Talking calmly helps you to understand the real reason for not getting along. It makes it much easier to figure out how to fix it. In healthy relationships, working through disagreements often makes the relationship stronger. In healthy relationships, people respect each other for who they are. This includes respecting and listening to yourself and your feelings so you can set boundaries and feel comfortable. You will find that you learn to understand experiences and feelings of others as well as having them understand your experiences and feelings.
How do I know that I have a healthy relationship with someone?
You know that you are in a healthy relationship with someone because you feel good about yourself when you are around that person. Unhealthy relationships can make you feel sad, angry, scared, or worried.
Healthy peer relationships involve an equal amount of giving and taking in the relationship. In unhealthy relationships, there is an unfair balance. You may often feel that you are giving the other person more attention than that he or she gives to you.
You should feel safe around the other person and feel that you can trust him or her with your secrets. In a healthy relationship, you like to spend time with the other person, instead of feeling that you have to spend time with him or her.

China now has 350 million smokers, accounting for one third of the world total. Chinese smokers now become addicted to nicotine at the age of 19,five years earlier than the average starting age of 24 in 1997.
Of the 1.1 billion smokers all over the world, more than 800 million are in developing countries. And as the world’s largest developing country, China also has the largest number of smokers.
Some frightening facts start to appear when we examine who China’s smokers are. Of the 350 million addicts, more than 100 million are under the age of 18, while more than 50 percent of male teachers and doctors will certainly have a bad impact on the young generation.
Teachers are usually expected to be role models for students who tend to consider whatever they do is right and follow their example. It is very likely that the number of teenage smokers will increase in the near future unless measures are taken to forbid teachers from smoking in front of their students of designate(指定)schools as no –smoking zones.
Their example only helps justify the addiction of so many others.
If educated people set an example by stopping smoking at least in public places, it would be much easier to drive home the notion that it is uncivilized to smoke in public places.
In China, there should also be a national law to ban smoking in public places.
These would make a massive contribution to cutting the number of people in China who are smoking themselves into early graves(坟墓)。(China Daily 05/31/2006 Page4)

第二部分:请认真阅读下列短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入最恰当的单词(不可以用原文中的单词)。
With the development of our modern society, people’s living conditions become much more comfortable. But along with intense competition, parents have less time to consider children’s needs in all-round. One method to solve this contradiction is to give children some pocket money. Pocket money is useful to children. But whether the children are considerable enough to make correct use of this money? There are two viewpoints about the pocket money. Some people think that giving children pocket money will make them become luxurious. Others think that will not lead to such disadvantage. In my opinion, both of them are partially reasonable. Someone believes that giving children pocket money really has many advantages. With pocket money, children can buy their daily necessities such as pencils, little toys, and snack food they like. It will give children a certain freedom to select what they want, make them aware rules of the equivalent exchange. Since time to parents is very precious, giving pocket money to children help them to save time spent in shopping, but used in busy working and earning money. Others insist that there are undoubtedly some disadvantages in spending pocket money. First, young children do not know how to use pocket money appropriately, they possibly consume all the money to buy expensive merchandise that they like, and then ask for extra money from their parents. Some parents cosset their children, and always give them a large amount of pocket money. Such conditions will make children become more and more prodigal. Second, since adults do not supervise the procedure of shopping, children could probably buy something that is not suitable for their age, such as adult magazines. Judging these two viewpoints above-mentioned, I think that parents should give their children a limited amount of pocket money. There are some preconditions: the amount of pocket money must be finite; the parents should instruct their children how to use the pocket money moderately and what is suitable to them; for a costly merchandise, parents themselves should take children to buy it. With these preconditions, pocket money will do no harm to their children.
