2. Enable the students to use what they have learned from this lesson to carry out the reading, listening, speaking and writing tasks.

1. Help the students understand who Howard Carter is and what happened to the persons motioned in the text.

Step1: Presentation
(Show a segment from the movie The Mummy before the class.)
Just now, we enjoyed a movie. (1)What impressed you most? (show the pictures from the movie on the screen.) Look at the pictures. (show two pictures of mummies on the screen. ) (2)What do you think of them? (3)Dare you touch a real mummy when you see one up close? Why/ Why not?
The movie and the pictures are all about mummies. Now we are to read an article about mummies.(show the title: The curse of the mummy)
