Time and concession adverbial clause
时间和让步状语从句
1.在时间和条件状语从句中,用一般现在时代替一般将来时。(一般现在时要注意第三人称单数)
I will tell him as soon as I see him.
If it rains tomorrow, I will not go to school.
2. 区别:when / while / as 当……时候
when从句可用V延和V非延
while从句只能用V延
as强调主从句的动作同时发生,常译作:一边……一边……
___________ we arrived at the station, the train had left.
_________________ I was walking in the street, I saw him.
___________ I walked, I sang.
3. 什么是让步状语从句?
Though /Although it was snowing, I went to school.
事实A不能阻止事实B的发生,简单地讲:尽管(though / although)引导的就是让步状语从句。
注意:though /although不能和but连用,为什么?
思考:“让步”如何理解?
Practice: ①先通读全文再做 ②先搞清中文意思 ②时态再难也不怕,因为发生在什么时间就用什么时态。关键是找准时间。
如何记多义动词短语:pick up ①拾起 ②拿起 ③ 接(乘客) ④ 收听 ⑤ 用较少钱的买到
The monkey picked up a stone.
He picked up the telephone.
The bus stopped to pick up the passengers.
He picked up BBC on his radio every morning.
I picked up a good book at the bookshop today.

1. Mr. Luo, our headmaster, is a good leader.

同位语: 一个名词对另一个名词或代词进行补充说明,这个名词就是同位语。一般放在主、宾、表语之后,并用逗号隔开。
思考:同位是什么意思?
2. used to do sth . 过去常常做某事
be used to doing 习惯做某事 (to在此为prep.)
He used to get up early.
He is used to getting up early.
3.copy vt.抄写,模仿 n. 副本(拷贝);一份,一册,一本(书,报等)
No copying! Please give me a copy of newspaper.
4. His words made his teacher angry
句型:主 + 谓 + 宾 + 宾补(adj.)
译:我们要让国家变得更强大,更美丽。
We will make our country stronger and more beautiful.
他的帮助让我很开心。
His help made me happy.
5. continue doing /to do sth.继续做某事
He continued telling / to tell the story.
6. warm up 使暖和;(使……)更活跃
The fire warmed up the room.
Our headteacher warmed the students up with a few jokes.
The party soon warmed up.
7. be full of = be filled with 充满, 装满
The classroom is full of smoke. = The classroom is filled with smoke.
译:房间挤满了人。
8. while conj. ①当……时候 ②然而
While the discussion was still going on, John came in.
I like swimming while he likes skating.
9. The boy caused his teacher a lot of trouble. 引起;造成
= The boy caused a lot of trouble for his teacher.
译:他弄得父母很不愉快。
He caused his parents much unhappiness.
10. to 可以表示“伴随”
They are dancing to the music.
11. impress vt. 给……深刻印象 → impression n.印象
make a…impression on sb. 给某人留下……印象
The beautiful sights impressed us.
We are impressed by the beautiful sights.
You made a good impression on me.
12. Begin / finish … with … 以…… 开始/结束
We began / finished our class with an English song.
