1. Show a short part of the film The Lion King.
2. Ask students what animals they can see in the film and find out the endangered animals.
3. Listen to some animals news:
A. Dolphin: Last night, a little dolphin’s dead body was found on one coast of Hongkong. People think it died from hunger because it could not find any food in the dirty sea…
B. Antelopes: The Canadian government announced last week that more and more antelopes in the wildlife park died in Road-kills.
4. Ask students to think out the reasons why the animals are endangered.
5. Give Ss 3 to 5 minutes to discuss in pairs and then invite some of them to give their opinions. And show some opinions below:

1. I believe that you are concerned about animals and plants disappearing. Why should you worry about this

We shouldn’t cut or kill them freely.
Protect the environment around us.

Step 1. The Present Progressive Passive Voice
结构:
A. 陈述句:
主语+ am/is/are +being+过去分词
B. 疑问句:
疑问词+ am/is/are+主+being+ 过去分词
用法:
表示说话人说话时或现阶段正在进行的动作,经常和时间副词now(现在), right now (现在, 此刻), at present (现在,目前), at this moment(此刻)连用。
意义:
主语和谓语动词之间是被动关系,而且动作正在进行。
----English is being taught by Miss Lee now.
----New functions are being added to the camera at present.
Step 2. The Tense of the Passive Voice
1. Present passive voice: am/is/are + p.p.
The Olympic Games are usually held in big cities.
2. Past passive voice: was/were+ p.p.
The last Olympic Games were held in Athens.
3. Future passive voice: will/shall+ be+ p.p.
The 2008 Olympic Games will be held in Beijing.

4. Present continuous passive voice: am/is/are+ being+ p.p.
--Why it is so noisy out there
--Oh, it’s because the road is being repaired.
5. Perfect passive voice: have /has+ been + p.p.
The Olympic Games have been held 28 times.
现在进行时的被动语态: am/is/are + being done
瞧!那个婴儿正由他的姑姑照料着。
Look! The baby is being taken care of by her aunt.
1) 表示这一段时间正在进行的一个被动的动作。
这一阵子许多讲座正在举行。
Many speeches are being held these days.
2) 表示按计划或安排将要进行的一个被动动作
今晚将要进行一场圣诞晚会。
A party is being held tonight.
Notes:
① be + under / in +n. 的结构可以表示现在进行时的被动语态的含义。

② 一些表示“心理活动,拥有,存在”等动词,一般不用现在进行时的被动语态,而用一般现在时的被动语态。
