Some children are natural-born bosses. They have a strong need to make decisions, manage their environment, and lead rather than follow. Stephen Jackson, a Year One student, “operates under the theory of what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine,” says his mother. “The other day I bought two new Star Wars light sabers (剑). Later, I saw Stephen with the two new ones while his brother was using the beat-up ones.”
??? “Examine the extended family, and you’ll probably find a bossy grandparent, aunt, uncle or cousin in every generation. It’s an inheritable trait,” says Russell Barkley, a professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. Other children who may not be particularly bossy can gradually gain dominance (支配地位) when they sense their parents are weak, hesitant, or in disagreement with each other.
???? Whether it’s inborn nature or developed character at work, too much control in the hands of the young isn’t healthy for children or the family. Fear is at the root of a lot of bossy behavior, says family psychologist John Taylor. Children, he says in his book From Defiance to Cooperation, “have secret feelings of weakness” and “a desire to feel safe.” It’s the parents’ role to provide that protection.
??? When a “boss child” doesn’t learn limits at home, the stage is set for a host of troubles outside the family. The overly willful and unbending child may have trouble obeying teachers or coaches, for example, or trouble keeping friends. It can be pretty lonely as the top dog if no one likes your bossy ways.
?? “I see more and more parents giving up their power,” says Barkley, who has studied bossy behavior for more than 30 years. “They bend too far because they don’t want to be as strict as their own parents were. But they also feel less confident about their parenting skills. Their kids, in turn, feel more anxious.”
46. Bossy children like Stephen Jackson ______
??? A. make good decisions
??? B. show self-centeredness
??? C. lack care from others
??? D. have little sense of fear
47. The underlined phrase “inheritable trait” in Paragraph 2 means ______
??? A. inborn nature
??? B. developed character
??? C. accepted theory
??? D. particular environment
48. The study on bossy behavior implies that parents ______.
??? A. should give more power to their children
??? B. should be strict with their children
??? C. should not be so anxious about their children
??? D. should not set limits for their children
49. Bossy children may probably become????? .
??? A. relaxed
??? B. skillful
??? C. hesitant
??? D. lonely
50. What is the passage mainly about?
??? A. How bossy behavior can be controlled.
??? B. How we can get along with bossy children.
??? C. What leads to children’s bossy behavior.
??? D. What effect bossy behavior brings about.

The flag, the most common symbol(象征) of a nation in the modern world, is also one of the most ancient. With a clear symbolic meaning, the flag in the traditional form is still used today to mark buildings, ships and other vehicles related to a country.
?? The national flag as we know it today is in no way a primitive(原始的) artifact. It is, rather, the product of thousands of years' development. Historians believe that it had two major ancestors, of which the earlier served to show wind direction.
?? Early human beings used very fragile houses and boats. Often strong winds would tear roofs from houses or cause high waves that endangered travelers. People's food supplies were similarly vulnerable. Even after they had learned how to plant grains, they still needed help from nature to ensure good harvests. Therefore they feared and depended on the power of the wind, which could bring warmth from one direction and cold from another.
?? Using a simple piece of cloth tied to the top of a post to tell the direction of the wind was more dependable than earlier methods, such as watching the rising of smoke from a fire. The connection of the flag with heavenly power was therefore reasonable. Early human societies began to fix long pieces of cloth to the tops of totems(图腾) before carrying them into battle. They believed that the power of the wind would be added to the good wishes of the gods and ancestors represented by the totems themselves.
?? These flags developed very slowly into modern flags. The first known flag of a nation or a ruler was unmarked: The king of China around 1000 B.C. was known to have a white flag carried ahead of him. This practice might have been learned from Egyptians even further in the past, but it was from China that it spread over trade routes through India, then across Arab lands, and finally to Europe, where it met up with the other ancestor of the national flag.
51.The best title for the passage would be??________.
A. Development of the National Flag
B. Power of the National Flag
C. Types of Flags???
D. Uses of Flags
52.The underlined word "vulnerable" in Paragraph 3 means??___________. A. impossible to make sure of
B. likely to be protected
C. easy to damage????
D. difficult to find 53.The earliest flags were connected with heavenly power because.__________.
A. they could tell wind direction
B. they could bring good luck to fighters
C. they were handed down by the ancestors
D. they were believed to stand for natural forces
54.What does the author know of the first national flag?
A. He knows when it was sent to Europe.
B. He believes it was made in Egypt.
C. He thinks it came from China.
D. He doubts where it started.
55.What will the author most probably talk about next? A. The role of China in the spread of the national flag. B. The second ancestor of the national flag. C. The use of modern flags in Europe. D. The importance of modern flags.

What Is Anger? We all know what anger is, and we’ll all felt it; whether as a fleeting(短暂的) annoyance or as full-fledged rage (盛怒).
Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive(破坏性的), it can lead to problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. And it can make you feel as though you’re at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion.
Anger is “an emotional state the varies in intensity(强度) from mild irritation to intense fury(愤怒) and rage(恼怒),” according to Charles PhD, a psychologist who specializes in the study of anger. Like other emotions, it is accompanied by physiological and billogical changes; when you get angry, your heart rate and blood pressure go up, as do the levels of your energy hormones, adrenalin(肾上腺素), and nor adrenalin(降肾上腺素).
Anger can be caused by both external(外部的) and internal (内部的) events. You could be angry at a specific person (such as a coworker or supervisor) or event ( a traffic jam, a canceled flight), or your anger could be caused by worrying or brooding (沉思) about your personal problems. Memories of traumatic (创伤的) or enraging events can also trigger angry feelings.

从第一段第二句讲到“They have a strong need to make decisions, manage their environment, and lead rather than follow”,后面就举了Jackson的例子来说明,因此Jackson的特征是以自我为中心,选B。
从最后一段专家的讲话“they don’t want to be as strict as their own parents are”可知,父母对子女不严格要求才会导致子女的专横,因此选B。
第四段最后一句“It can be pretty lonely as the top dog if no one likes your bossy ways.”
所以“Development of the National Flag”比较贴切,选A.
根据后面的“Even after they had learned how to plant grains, they still needed help from nature to ensure good harvest.”
根据“They believed that the power of the wind would be added to the good wishes of the gods and ancestors represented by the totems themselves”可知旗帜被认为代表自然力量而和神的力量联系在一起。
从最后一段“The first known flag of a nation or a ruler was unmarked”说明第一个国旗在哪里的出现并不清楚。
根据第二段“Historians believe that it had two major ancestors, of witch the earlier served to show wind direction”,后面也是描述旗帜的的第一个前身,后面可能会讲到第二个前身。

With the developing of our living standard, we get more and more pocket money and more pocket money given by our parents or relatives. But how should we spend it?
First of all, we can save it in the bank to cultivate a good habit of saving money. When we really need money we can take it out. Second, we can buy some books on science or arts which bring more knowledge. Third, if you are interested in stamp collecting, music or sports, you can spend your pocket money on it.
We may make different choices on our pocket money, but we should never waste it just eating or playing electronic games.
The passage tells us what anger is. It may have positive or negative influence on humans. Anger, which brings about changes in the body, can be caused under different circumstances. (30words)
It is true that in our society people tend to lose temper more frequently and easily. We can see people arguing in the street, couples quarreling at home and students fighting over some trifles. Many doctors believe that anger is very harmful to people’s health. So how to cope with anger becomes a big concern for us. We have figured out many ways to deal with anger. Firstly, you should identify the real cause of your anger. So long as you know why you are angry, you will be aware of whether the cause deserves you to get angry. Secondly, you may make self-consolation when you are in trouble. Thirdly, when you are in trouble you’d better talk to others and take advice from others.
In fact, anger itself is neither faulty or right. The key point is how we treat it. As far as I’m concerned, I will try to control my temper and not let my temper do any harm. (162 words)
