Teaching aims:
1.To read sections of a story and sequence then use prediction strategies and linking words.
2.To use linking expressions related to time and sequencing.
3.To talk about and give opinions of films.
4.To practise oral English
Teaching important and difficult points:
1.Enable students to grasp four reading strategies to help them develop their reading ability.
2.Master some new words: survive, recover, recognize, enormous, etc.
3.How to use the linking words and some key words to make a successful interview.
4.How to write a story.
Teaching methods:
Students-centered, communicative method as well as task-based method.
Learning methods:
Individual work, pair work, group work, class work and discovery approach.

Teaching procedures:
Step1.Greetings and Revision
Greet the whole class as usual .Remind them what they’ve leant last class.
Step2. Warm up
1. Show Ss some pictures first. Let Ss think of a question.
In your mind, what’s the sea like? (calm, violent, changeable)
2. T: There are many films telling us sea stories or in which the sea is important, such as Jaws ,Titanic ,Waterworld ,The Day After Tomorrow and so on. Have you seen or heard any of these films or any others in which the sea is important? Work in groups of four to discuss the two questions: Have you seen any other films about the sea? What did you think of them? Tell your classmate. Then I’ll invite some Ss to tell the class.
3. Show some pictures in Titanic, Jaws, Waterworld, and The Day After Tomorrow .Then introduce them simply to make Ss know something about them, especially for those who have never heard of them.

T: Now, it’s time for you and Listen carefully! Work in pairs: suppose you are a reporter and your partner is the hero of the story. Interview the survivor(幸存者) about his experience . As a reporter, you should design four to six questions. To make the task easier the first and second groups are responsible for Part B, the third and fourth groups for Part A and the last one for Part C. In this way, you can retell the story in an interesting and special way. I’ll give you four minutes to prepare your interview. Then I’ll invite some pairs to show their interviews.
Try to use the following words to help you.
