单音节和一些双音节<形容词>加er或est或它们的变体构成比较级和最高级。
规则1：直接加er，est
small—smaller — smallest old — older — oldiest
规则2：以e作字尾，则加r，st

规则3：以辅音加y作字尾，把y变成i，再加er，est
