I. Teaching content: Unit 5 Module 3 warming up and reading

V. Teaching procedure:
Step 1 Warming up
1. Show a map of the world: Where is Canada
2. How much do you know about Canada First. Let’s watch a short video about Canada.
3. Answer the following questions to test how much you know about Canada:
How large is Canada
What’s the capital of Canada
What is the largest city of Canada
What languages are officially spoken in Canada
What is the national flag of Canada
What is the national plant of Canada
What is the national animal of Canada
What is the Canadian leader called
Who is the person that came from Canada, helped China a lot and gave his life to China
Step 2 Leading-in
Now two girls from China are visiting Canada. Where did they get to and what did they see there Ok, let’s turn to the text “A Trip on ‘the True North’”.
Step 3 Reading activities
Question: What does “The True North” refer to in the topic (line 5 & 6)
Activity 1: Circle the places that the two girls arrived at and draw the trip route on the map on P33, then compare with your partner.

Activity 2 : Listen to the tape. Underline key points about the main places while listening.
