Step 1. Greetings and Worm-up
After ordinary greetings, recall students’ memorize of the content of last
class. Then ask them “What do you usually use your computer for ” And
guide them to answer it by using the structure “I use it for…”(screen 2)
ask students “Do you like playing computer games ”(screen 3) List some
pictures of computer games. (screen 4-6) Introduce them the educational
CD-ROM mentioned in the reading.
T: You know something about computer games, am I right (Ss: Yes)
T: OK. Do you know a new game called, “Around the World in Eight
Hours” It is a new educational CD-ROM. (write the title on the Bb)
Step 2：Pre-task (P44 A)
T: Do you want to know about it But at the beginning we must learn some new words about it. (screen 7-10)Ss can guess the meanings of these words from the pictures. The teacher will help students know them by repeating and translating.
Step 3：Scanning (P44 C)
Let students listen to the radio and do “T or F” (screen 11)
Ss make judgments one by one, if there is a mistake, ask another student to help till they get right answers. And then correct the errors.
Step 4: While reading
Read the article one paragraph by one paragraph and do some pauses to set some tasks for students. (screen 12- paragraph 1; screen 13- paragraph 2; screen 14,15, 16, 17- paragraph 3, 4; screen 18, 19 - paragraph 5)
Ask some students to read these paragraphs and do some comment and pronunciation correction. After their reading, give them some relative exercises to do. Make sure students understand the content well.
Step 5: Consolidation
Provide a close for students to review the reading. (screen 20-22)
