When you go an outing ,remember to bring a map to know the way well.

Ⅵ.Teaching Procedures:
Step 1.Leading in
Show three pictures on the screen, introduce the places to Ss(E’qiao,Baoding,Zhonggou).Then show a map of Fanchang,get Ss to find the three places on the map.And tell them that we can use the direction indicator to describe places on the map clearly.
Step 2.Presentation
Show the direction indicator on the map and teach each direction,make sure they know them well.Then show the map of Fanchang again ,say Zhonggou is north of E’qiao. Baoding is north-west of E’qiao.Then encourage Ss to say sentences as many as possible like this .
Step 3.Expanding:
After they can descibe directions correctly.Show a map of China,get Ss to use they learn to describe the more cities,it can increase their georgraphy knowledge.
Step4. Presentation
Point to the three sentences on page43,ask Ss to read,show the map on the screen ,get Ss to find the three places and write the correct numbers in the boxes,then say :There are some other places on this map,I will say the descriptions and you find where it is:
a)The KFC is north-east of Beijing Sunshine Secondary School.
b)The Sunshine Hospital is south-east of Beijing Sunshine Secondary School.
c)The Theatre is south of Beijing Sunshine Secondary School..
Then show a map of Wuhu,get Ss find more interesting places on the map
Step 5. Practicing
Show a picture,get Ss to name the places first and ask Ss to say where these places are.Then make a conversation with a student like this:
T: Where is the Post Office?
S:The Post Office is north of Sunshine Secondary School.
T: Let’s go to the Post Office.
S: Ok!
T:How can we go there?
S: We can go by bike.
Then get Ss to work in pairs to ask and answer using the places on the picture,and ask some to present to the class.
Step6 .Presentation
Show the comic strip on the screen.Say:Hobo and Eddie are going to a spring out.Then get Ss to listen and answer the following question:
Where are Eddie and Hobo?
What does Hobo ask Eddie to do in the picture?
Do they have to go up the hill again?
Does Hobo really know the way?
Step 7.Practice
Let Ss read the dialogue with partner.Then invite some to act it out.
Then divide the class into two parts to role play the dialogue.
Step 8.Summery and Homework
Sum up the contents of this class.
Make eight sentences with the words about eight directions.
