Nonverbal Humour
I. Teaching aims
Get the students to know there are different kinds of humour between China and the western countries.
Get the students to understand the different types of humour in their book.
Get the students to know about Charlie Chaplin’s humour and understand his films.
II. Teaching importance and difficulties
The names of different kinds of humour in English.
The comprehension of the nonverbal humour.
The -ing form as Attribute and Adverbial.
III. Teaching steps
Step1 Warming up.
1 Revise the names of different kinds of English humour. Show some pictures of some humourous persons to the students and ask them what types of humour these persons often show us.
2 Get the students to read the tongue twisters that I asked them to practise after class yesterday. Give them one more tongue twister to practise in class. (If white chalk chalks white on a black blackboard, will black chalk chalk black on a white whiteboard then )(She sells sea shells by the sea shore. The shells she sells are surely seashells. So I'm sure she sells seashore shells. if she sells shells on the seashore)
3 Get the students to think of some Chinese humourous persons and talk about their humour. Such as Feng Gong, Niu Qun, Cheng Peisi, Zhao Benshan.
4 Show the students some more pictures of Charlie Chaplin. Ask them if they have seen some films acted by Charlie Chaplin. If they say yes, ask them to share what they have seen in the films with their partners. If they say no, tell them some names of Chaplin’s films and that we are going to learn a passage about Chaplin and his films.
Step2 Pre-reading
1 Ask the students to discuss the questions in Pre-reasing in pairs.
2Get some pairs of students to tell the class their opinions about the questions.
Step3 Reading
1 Play the tape of the passage Nonverbal Hunour, get the students to listen carefully and make some notes about the information of Charlie Chaplin. Then fill in the form on page 18 of the students’ book.
2 Check their answers quickly.
3 Ask the students to do some scanning exercises. Get them to read the passage silently and quickly and then divide the passage. They should also find out the main idea of each part.
4 Get the studentst to read the passage again and answer some true or false questions about the passage.
5 Check their answers quickly.
6 Ask the students to do Exercise2 on page19 in the students’ book. Then check their answers.
Step4 After-reading.
1 Get the students to discuss the following question after they learn the passage about Charlie Chaplin and his films.
What do you think of Chaplin’s films, like The Little Tramp and The Gold Rush
2 Get some groups of students to tell their opinions about the question to the whole class.
Step5 Homework
Read the passage again and finish Exercise1 and 2 in Learning about language.(共59张PPT)

本课时为Warming up & fast reading, 了解常见的中西方幽默形式并介绍了美国著名的电影演员、喜剧大师查理 卓别林以及他在无声电影时代的精湛表演,特别是在著名影片《淘金记》中,他运用滑稽、夸张的动作表情,让观众在捧腹之余,体会在琐屑、卑微之中所隐藏的深刻本质。
重点:本课包括Warming up和文章阅读,阅读量正常,难易度适中,因此将重点放在对文章的理解上,特别是在阅读中,如何提高提取信息,分析信息,解决信息背后的意义上。
难点: 1. 如何调动学生积极性,表达自我想法,列举事例,支持自己的观点。 2. 通过了解东西方幽默的不同形式,理解中西方文化差异。 3. 掌握课文的主旨大意,整理出关于课文结构的主要信息 4. 了解卓别林表演风格,领会幽默的真正内涵。
知识目标:
1)认识东西方幽默的不同表现形式。
2)能学会本单元所要求的词汇,短语,如slide, cruel, be content with, astonish, particular, entertaining, overcome, chew, mouthful and so on.
能力目标 1)掌握提取信息,分析信息,解决问题的能力。 2)深层理解文章背后的意义,了解作者意图。(通过分析卓别林的表演风格,达到从浅层幽默到深层幽默的理解的飞跃,即幽默背后所隐含的社会意义)
情感态度:
1)通过对各种幽默表现形式的了解,鼓励学生保持乐观的人生态度,培养幽默感。
2)通过对卓别林所表演角色和风格的分析,学会勇于面对困难,战胜困难的人生态度。
高一学生特点:
1)对新教材有一定了解适应,但自主学习习惯未养成,对教师依赖性较强;
2)对事物有好奇心,思维活跃,但思考不深入,逻辑性不强;
3)大多数高中生,生活历练少,心理承受力弱,缺少面对困难,克服困难的勇气。
语言情景创设法、图示教学法
依据:现代英语教学强调在“用中学”,因此创设语言环境对语言习得起着重要的作用。
同时,通过电脑课件展示相关的图片,视频,或静态,或动态,以直观的效果激发学生固有的背景知识,在学生固有的背景知识和文本信息之间搭建起理解桥梁,能有效地帮助他们获取信息,达到理解信息的目的。
自主探究法(新课标强调以学生为主体,培养学生自主探求问题的能力)主要通过相关图示激活学生固有背景知识,使其自主分析归纳新的信息和知识。
演绎归纳法(将难句以提问的方式,分解成简单的小句,让学生自主归纳其语法特点)
Step 1:
1) 展示一张正在哭泣的小孩的图片询问: Is he happy 再展示一张正在大笑的本人的图片询问:Am I happy?让学生猜测原因。
2)问学生:If you are not happy, what will you do to cheer yourself up

1) Can you name some humor forms How many kinds of humour do you know 展示各种类型的幽默形式及其代表人物或作品,进行连线,比如Mr. Bean连线mime和farce。Mark Twain连线funny stories等。
2) Do you have other kinds of humour in China 列举出哑剧,小品,相声等领域的代表人物的图片或视频片段,将其连线至相对应的幽默形式。
3) 当连线时可带以Is there cross talk in English world 等问题,得出中国特有的幽默形式:独角戏,相声,小品,双簧等。
4)展示不同幽默形式的图片材料,展示卓别林,憨豆先生,赵本山,黄宏,周星驰等一些著名喜剧演员的图片。
