Teaching Procedures
Teacher’s activity(what and how) Students’ activity(what and how, possible answers) Why(reasons and objectives)
1 Lead-in by listening to a song----if you are happy. (Group work)First of all, the students will listen to a familiar song ----if you are happy. According to this song, the students can guess the theme of this class------body language; we can use our hands and feet to express our feeling.Second, ask students what else can we make to make body language. For example, eye contact, make a face, thumb—up and so on.. Arouse the students’ interests, and then lead to the new lesson in a natural way, meanwhile the learners will be involved.
2 Acting and speaking Some students have prepared three performances with body language in advance. Such as dancing, playing, and so on. Then the other students can know more about body language. And speak out what body languages do they use. The more they answer, the higher points they will get for their groups. Then the other students try to think of how the parts of the body can be used to “talk” to someone. Acting and Guessing is an effective way. Not only can these activities be useful to their listening and speaking, but they can also be used to develop the students some other talents. What’s more, students can combine body language with their daily life.
3 Discussion Can you guess what someone is thinking or feeling by looking at his or her body language 2..What are some situations where we need to be very careful about our body language 3.How is body language different from spoken language 4.Sometimes we say one thing but our body language says something different. Why does this happen Can you think of any examples The purpose of this activity is to encourage the students to begin thinking about body language from other aspects.
