External bleeding
Apply direct pressure. Place a clean, folded cloth over the injured area and firmly apply pressure .If blood soaks through, do not remove it. Instead, cover that cloth with another one and continue to apply pressure to the wound for 7~10 minutes. If the bleeding is from the ear, place a clean bandage over the ear, lay the victim on his side, and allow the blood to drain out through the bandage.
Elevate the injury. Position the wounded part of the body above the level of the heart if possible while you apply direct pressure.
Know the pressure points. If direct pressure and elevation don’t sufficiently slow the blood flow, find a pressure point. Large arteries(动脉) found close to the skin’s surface supply blood to the head and to each arm and leg. The most common pressure points used during the first aid are located in the upper arms and in the creases(皱纹) above the upper legs. Apply pressure to the closest pressure point to the wound so that the artery is pressed between your fingers and the bone directly behind the artery. If using the pressure point on a leg, you may need to use the heel of your hand instead of your finger
Resort to a tourniquet(止雪带,压脉器).On very rare occasions everything listed above may fail. To prevent the victim from dying, you should apply a tourniquet .Once a tourniquet is applied, it should not be loosened or removed until the victim has reached medical help. Use a tourniquet ONLY if everything listed above has failed. If you use a tourniquet, write down somewhere on the victim the time when it was applied, so medical personal will know how long it has been in place.

The accident at Lake Sherwood was in our backyard. An SUV(运动型多用途车)had gone off the road, down a hill, and collided with a tree. When we heard the wreck, I remembered to say “call199”. My family was the first on the scene. Nick, my son, was on the cell phone with 911. He saw a friend who was a victim in the crash who was a 15 years old girl who was badly disfigured and had died instantly. It was a terrible scene.
There had been six people in the truck, all between 15 and 17 years old. My husband and I checked all the victims, and I picked one who was conscious and stayed with him. I talked with him and had him lay on the ground. When I asked him if he was hurt, he said he was sore all over. When help arrived, they asked me to stay and continue working with them. I did as Debbie Romine, .my instructor, said in class, and did what they wanted. They even said thank you before they left.
The sheriff deputies came by Saturday night to get our statements and play the 911 tape back, so Nick could identify all the voices in the background. They said over and over that the way he handled the call was the best they had heard in a long time. He was calm and worked with them even when he saw his friend who had died. The Sheriff’s Department is sending some people over to help us work through our emotions.
The first aid and CPR course I took in January really helped me. I just didn’t expect to put it to good use so soon.

such修饰单数名词时,要用such a...., 本题中such books, such直接修饰复数名词。
Ⅲ. 36.选D。 从短文首句“I made my first visit to the Unite State”得知这是“我”到国外去,abroad意思是“到国外”。
39.选A。
40.选B。have a nice easy holiday表示“有一个良好的,轻松的假期”。

51.选A。

根据第一段“If blood soaks through, do not remove it. Instead, cover that cloth with another one and continue to apply pressure to the wound for 7~10 minutes.”
59.选A。
A项错在“above the head”,应为“Position the wounded part of the body above the level of the heart”; B项错在“deep in the muscle”应为“Large arteries found close to the skin’s surface supply blood to the head and to each arm and leg”; 根据 “On very rare occasion everything listed above may fail.”

As we all know, wood has many uses. It is a kind of very important building material. Wood can be made into desks, chairs, beds and many other things. Fine paper is made of wood, too. Only trees can provide us with enough wood. Trees can also provide us with oxygen and make the air around us fresh. In hot summer trees give us shade and make our surroundings more beautiful. What’s more, trees can stop soil from being washed away by heavy rains.
Since trees are so important to us, we should plant more trees. At the same time, measures should be taken to protect forests and prevent trees from being cut down.
