IV. Teaching Procedures:
Before the class:
Lead-in : Enjoy a song: Take a trip! & Sing together!
(Teach some words: trip, travel, suitcase, ready)
(In this part, it can stimulate the students’ interest in learning English and creat a happy atmosphere. Then we can begin our lesson naturally)
Class begins: Part One: Review
Step1 Brain Storm
The teacher will show the students some pictures. Have students use as many adj. as possible to describe the picture.
(In this part, it practice the sentence pattern: How was/were…? It was…/ They were…. It also review some adj. leant last class and teaches some new adj.)
Step2 Quiz Time
Jeff had a vacation in some cities of China. Each city show 4 pictures as a clue. Encourage students to guess where Jeff went on vacation before showing all the four pictures.
(In this part, it consolidates the sentence pattern: Where did Jeff go on vacation? He went to …on vacation.)
Step3 Guessing Game
Show some pictures with some pictures cover them. Encourage the students to guess what the person did on vacation. Use the sentence patter to guess: “Did he/she/they sing?” The teacher answer: “Yes, he/she/they did. No, he/she/they didn’t.”Then the students answer the teacher’s question:“What did he/she/they do?”
with the sentence patter“He/She/They sang.”
(In this part, it reviews the sentence pattern: Did he sing? Yes, he did. / No, he didn’t. What did he do? He sang.)
Part Two: New Lesson
(The whole class take a trip with the teacher. Play a trip game to different places and finish different tasks. Encourage the boys and the girls try their best to finish the task. Who wins the most stars is the winner.)
Step4: Memory Challenge
Let’s go for a world trip. The teacher will show the students a picture or a piece of information quickly. The students should watch carefully and remember them. Then try to answer some questions.
(In this part, it attracts the students’ attention. And it consolidates the sentence pattern “Where? What? Did? How?”)
Step6: Learn to write a dairy
Watch a video: Watch a video about Mickey’s vacation. Then have students fill in the blanks and the teacher teach how to write a dairy according to the information.
Listen to the tape: Listen to Mickey’s second dairy. Then have students fill in the blank. And read the dairy together to learn how to write a dairy.
(In this part, it develops the ability of observing , listening, memory and thinking .)
Step7: Writing
Write a dairy about one of the cartoon characters. Show the class two people’s vacation. Have students choose one person and write a dairy. Then invite some students to read the dairy out.
(In this part, it develops the students’ ability of application of the language they learnt in this unit and their ability of imagination.)
Step8: Discussion
Have the whole class discuss the topic: “How was our life was a few years ago? How is our life now? ” Then invite some students to talk about their opinions.
(In this part, it make the students realize the great changes took place near us and we live a happy life. So we should cherish it and make our world more beautiful.)
Step9: Culture tips: The winner choose one or two culture tips to enjoy.

Step 11: Homework
Make a photo album of the vacation you enjoyed and choose one to write a dairy.
