non-restrictive attributive clauses
一、限制性定语从句与先行词的关系密切,对它有限制作用。如果去掉该从句,主句的意思就不能表达完整。限制性定语从句前一般不用逗号。在译成汉语时,限制性定语从句一般译在被修饰的名词或代词之前,对该名词或代词起限制作用。
非限制性定语从句与先行词的关系并不密切,只是一种插入性的附加说明。去掉从句,主句的意思仍然完整。从句和主句之间往往用逗号隔开。译成汉语时则另起一个句子,仿佛是并列句。
