Unit 15 We’re trying to save the manatees!
( The 3rd period Section B 1a-2c )

I. Guiding ideology(教学思想)
Basing on our country’s new ideas of English course standard, New outlines, English teaching should found the study mode and teaching mode of developing creative spirit and practical abilities. We should focus on developing students’ techniques of observation, memory, thinking, imagination and study. Therefore, our teaching ideology now is: Focus on all the students and qualify education; design the targets comprehensively, and have flexible and diversified forms; Encourage learner-based teaching and students’ various potentials; let students observe and learn from practical experiment;encourage the students by value them; widen study and application with the open teaching materials.
II. Analysis of the Materials(教材分析)
This period is the third period of this unit, it is talking about the importance of protecting the environment and how to protect our environments. After learning, let the Students know that we should save the endangered animals and protect our environments. At the same time, It increases the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading, and writing by learning the lesson.This topic is related closely to the Ss’ lives, so I think they can lear this lesson easily.
III. Analysis of the Students(教学对象分析)
The students are about 14 years old. They are lively with the great curiosity, strong imitation. Some of them like to show themselves in public. Some of them are weak in English as well. They hope to obtain approvals and praises from others. So I tried my best to let my students to take part in the classroom activities and let them be the main body of learning. This topic is closely related to their lives,so they could finish the task easily. At the same time, I gave the students awards if they succeed. Then the students could learn English in the lively atmosphere that full of competition.

VIII:Learning Strategies :
I request the students to study English independently and cooperatively. Each unit in Go for it contains pair work, group work and games. The students who sit at the same table and groups can make a discussion and learn from each other. It makes each student relaxed. They needn’t worry about making mistakes. It can arouse students to think and to say what they want to say. Study becomes more relaxing and pleasing in this kind of situation.

Step1 Warming-up by watching a vedio about protecting our earth. (1 min)
Purpose: Let the Ss get the main idea What we will learn in this lesson___pretect our environment
Step2: Play a geussing game.(2mins)
T :Show some sounds about animals, and ask the Ss to guess what kind of animals they are and describe the animals.
Purpose: Inspire the students with interests Consolidate what they learned before. Make the Ss love the animals.
Step3 Leading-in(2mins)
T: Show some pictures that our world are being destroyed by people, and the animals killed by people. After seeing these pictures. Ask the Ss : What do you feel What should we do them Ss may answer: We should save the endangered animals.Then show the pictures of bottle and trash- can, then give some questions to the Ss.
T: Which should we put the empty bottle in Why
For recycling or to protect the environment.
If not. What will happen
Next give some pictures about the pollution on the earth.
T says: People and animals can’t live in the planet.
So what can we do to save the planet Get them to discuss.
Purpose: get the Ss to get a brief sense of target languages, Improve the Ss’ abilitis of observation, speaking ,thinking, and imagination .
Step 4 1a Presentation(4mins)
1)Tell the Ss that there are some ideas in 1a. Explain the demand.( rank these items from the easiest to the most difficult. )
2)Show some pictures to learn the new phrases in 1a as to the Ss get familiar the items.
3) Let the Ss read the items together,Have the students rank the items from the easiest to the most difficult, and write down why it is easy or it is difficult for you.
Purpose:Let the students receive enough input and know how to protect the environments.
Task1 1b Pair work (practice)(5mins)
1) Give the modal.
A:turning off the lights when you leave the room is easy, because everyone can do it with out any efforts. Do you agree
B: I agree, but it’s hard to stop riding in cars, because many people’s homes are far from the schools and work places. If they don’t ride in car, they will be late.
2) get them to make the similar dialogues.
3)Ask some pairs to act out.
Purpose:Foster the students’ cooperative spirit and let all students can join the activities. So as to make the students use English by speaking, at the same time make the Ss feel their success
Task2 2a.2b Listening(8mins)
1)According to the statements, ask the Ss some questions.then explain the tape.(Now you will hear Jack and Julia talk about what they are doing to help save the planet

2)Let them read the statements they may talk about.
3)listen the first time, check the things that Julia and Jack talk about.
4)listen the second time, check the things that Julia is doing now, the things she will do in the futrure and the things she would never do.

Purpose:Reinforce the target language by listening. Get ready for the next step
Step5 2c.practice(5mins)
1) Give an example to the Ss, then ask them to make the similar dialogues
2) Ask some pairs to perform.
Purpose:The activity provides guided oral practice using the target language.
Task3: Interview the classmates.(10mins)
1) Devide the Ss into groups of four.
2) Ask a leader of group to interview the other three Ss that what things they are doing What things they will do What things they would never do to save planet

Leader: Hi good morning I am a reporter, can I ask you some questions.

3)Ask the leaders to report like this: Everyone has done something to save our planet. …has stopped using paper a napkins, he uses handkerchief instead. And he will take his own bags when shopping, but he thinks it is hard to stop riding in cars, because his home is far from the school.

In this calss, I designed the lessson from easy to difficlut.The topic is related to their lives, so they can learn the task easily, I teach the students by pairwork, groupwork, guessing game, listening, reading, , writing and so on, the Ss show their intersts in the whole class and learn it well.
