3. Teaching Difficult Points
a. The pronunciations of “I’m”, “what’s”.
b. Let the children to understand simple questions and greetings.
4. Teaching Aids
Activity sheets, tape recorder, multimedia
5. Teaching Procedures
Step1: Warming up and revision
1) Greetings.
2) Sing a song: “Hello”
3) Have a free talk:
e.g. T: Hello, children!
Ps: Hello, Miss Dai.
T: How are you
Ps: Fine, thank you. And you
T: I’m fine, too. Thank you. ( Etc.)
Step 2: Presentation
1) Show a cartoon (Someone talking about their names.) for the Ps.
2) Then, Ask the Ps to repeat after the speakers of cartoon.
3) Make a dialogue:
T: Hello, little boy!
B: Hello!
T: I’m Miss Dai. What’s your name
B: …. (Help him to answer this question.)
T: Thank you. Goodbye!
B: Goodbye!
4) Show the sentences on the board and play the tape for the Ps. Ask them to repeat after the tape.
Step 3: Practice
1) Show a PowerPoint to the Ps.(Scene Teaching)show 4 scenes to the class and ask the Ps to use the sentences to talk.
e.g. 1. At the zoo, the animals talk about their names. Ask 2 Ps to come out and to be a rabbit and a cat:
R: Hello, my name’s Mary. What’s your name
C: Hi, I’m Lily.
R: How are you
C: Fine, thank you. And you
R: I’m OK. Thank you.
R: Goodbye!
C: bye-bye!
2. In the Fun House.
3. In the classroom.
4. In my friend’s room.
2) Say a chant.
Step 4: Producer
1) Play (multimedia) Part C of Book 1 to the Ps. Ask them to listen and watch carefully.
2) Tell the Ps the meaning of “Nice to meet you.” and its answering is “Nice to meet you, too.” Then, Use this sentence to talk.
3) Making a dialogue:
A: Hello, my name’s Mary. What’s your name
B: Hi, I’m Lily.
A: Nice to meet you.
B: Nice to meet you, too.
A: How are you
B: Fine, thank you. And you
A: I’m OK. Thank you.
B: Goodbye!
A: bye-bye!
Step 5: Sum up
1) Play a game
Divide the Ps into 4 Groups. Ask them to have a free talk. Then choose someone to come out and greet to his/her good friends.
2) Sing a song “ Hello, friend.”
Step 6: Homework
1) Help the Ps to copy the sentences in the Copybook.
2) Play a guessing game.
