Teaching aims:
1. Using the structure ‘there be’ to identify the animals..
2. Using the plural nouns..
3. Revise asking Wh-questions ‘What can you see on the farm? What’s on the farm / at school / in the classroom / in the school bag?’ and ‘How many…?’
4.Revising the some animals pupils have learnt before.
5. Revise the numbers from 1 to 20.

二.Presentation
1. Show some animals they have learned. Ask the class: What can you see? Let the pupils answer I can see … Then show the Unit heading: On the farm. The class read after the teacher. Ask the pupil to look at the picture and answer: What’s on the farm? The pupil answer by using ‘There is/are…’.
2. Show the animals to be taught in the unit. Introduce the animals by saying Look. There’s a … Write the words on the board. Show the flash cards to invite the pupils to read the names of the animals.
3. Show more than one of the same animals. Answer the question: How many ____s are there? Tell the pupils that we do not use ‘s’ at the end of the word ‘sheep’ even if there are two or more.
三.Practice and consolidation
1. Listen to the tape for Part A. Repeat after the tape.
2. Get pupils in pairs practise the structures ‘What’s on the farm? Or How many ____s are there? There’s / There are …’by looking at the picture on Part A. Then ask some pupils to act.
3. Put the pictures of some animals in the box asking ‘What’s in the box? Ask a pupil to come and take out the pictures saying There’s a_____.
4. Play a miming game. Tell the pupils to mime an animal for the others to guess.

2.Display the toy animals. Pick up one animal. Revise structure I have a …by making a sentence about what you are holding, e.g. I have a pig. Now pretend to consider a different animal to choose. Pick one up and say, e.g. I want a cow. Holding both, say I like cows. I like pigs. Choose between the two, putting the cow down saying I like pigs. Pigs are my favourite animal. Write favourite animal on the board.
3. Ask a pupil to come out to the front to look at the animals. Ask him /her What’s your favourite animal? Encourage the answer I like…s. Repeat with a few more pupils.
三.Practice and consolidation
1. Open the books and listen and read after the tape.
2. Read the speech bubbles with the pupils. Point out the animals in the children’s thought bubbles and help the pupils to complete their sentences.
3.Ask the pupils to work in groups of four to complete the conversation at the bottom of the page. The pupils answer with their own preferences.
4. Show some other things with Powerpoint. Asking, e.g. What’s your favourite fruit? Encourage pupils to talk about their favourite things.
E.g. What’s your favourite toy. I like dolls.

2. The teacher points to some animals saying ‘ My favourite animals are sheep. What’s your favourite animal?’ Ask some pupils to answer ‘My favourite animals are / My favourite animal is a…’
3. Then the teacher continues to say ‘I like sheep. I don’t like tigers. What about you?’ Prompt pupils to respond ‘I like…I don’t like…’
三. Practice and consolidation
1. Pairs work. Show another picture of animals on a farm and talk about it. For example, What’s on the farm? There’s one sheep. Where is the sheep? The sheep is under the tree. Then ask some pupils to show their work in the front.
2. Ask pupils to continue to talk about the farm. E.g. I like sheep . I don’t like cows. What about you?
3. Get pupils to talk about their favourite things. E.g. My favourite clothes are skirts. What are your favourite clothes? My favourite fruits are apples. What’s your favourite fruit?
4. Play a guessing game. Get some pupils to mime the animals they like asking ‘What’s my favourite animal? The others will guess ‘Your favourite animal is a …’

4. Ask pupils to take out their pictures of their favourite animals and talk about them in groups. E.g. I like horses. Look at the horse. It’s brown and tall. It can run.
5. Play the Koko English again.

4.Play the tape again. Ask the pupils to listen to the rhyme and tick the correct pictures. Then ask the pupils to say the rhyme.
三. Practice and consolidation
Look and do
1. Tell the pupils to work in groups of six. Tell the group leader to find out the favourite animals of the members of the group by asking them one by one, What’s your favourite animal? The other pupils reply I like…
2. Draw a bar chart on the board similar to the one in the book. Ask the group leader, e.g. How many horses? Get group leaders to write the numbers on the rows of the correct animals.
3. Revise the names of the animals shown in the small pictures. Read words for the animal sounds under each of the small pictures. Play the tape for the pupils to listen to the song and sing it.
