Ask some students to retell the story in Part C with their own words.

Step 2 Presentation
Revision

And grey ice cream.
Tell the pupils to work in pairs.
Their partner then asks them about what their animal eats and drinks using the list on page 60.
Then they draw the animal and write about what it eats and drinks, following the model in picture2.
Make new group of four. Each member should have a different animal.
1. Explain to the students that each sound that is used in English has a special way of being written down. This is because we only use 26 letters for normal writing but there are 44 different sounds used in the spoken language. Give them an example, e.g. Letter n says different things in these words: spring, wrong, foreign, winter, etc. (For teachers’ information, the symbols are called the international Phonetic Alphabet or IPA)
Write the symbols for the sounds on the board. Write the words on the page under each symbol. Ask the students to tell you other words with the same sounds and add them to the list.
Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette and ask the students to listen to the sounds and the words.
Say the words slowly and clearly. Check that the students are making a distinction between the sounds and pronouncing them correctly.
Point to the pictures and check that the students can say the words without your model.
Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette again. Ask the students to listen to the rhyme.
Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette again. Ask the students to join in with the words of the rhyme this time.
Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette. Ask the students to listen to the words and then write them under the correct symbols.

Step 3 Practice
Ask the students to read the library rules then look at the picture. Talk with the class about what each of the students in picture is dong, e.g. What’s Kevin doing?
Ask them to write down what each child is dong wrong in the list below. Remind the students that they should only use must or mustn’t. Check the answers with the class.
Then ask them to turn to page 7 and look at the pictures of the museum and the children’s Palace. Ask them to choose one of the locations.
Put the students in groups of three and ask them to discuss the rules in a museum and a Children’s palace. Many of the rules will be the same. Ask them to make notes using must and mustn’t.
Then ask the students to return to their desks and use their notes to fill in the blanks in the letter to parents at the bottom of the page. Put a model sentence on the board to help the students. They should use complete sentences. Walk around the class and help the students.
Go through the answers with the class. Ask more confident students to read out their completed letters to the class. Write answers on the board.
Step 4 Listening Comprehension
1 Play the Pupil's Book Cassette for the students to listen to the chant.
2 Play the cassette again and encourage the students to join in with the Words
Step 5 More to do(拓展)
Explain to the students that different countries have different emergency numbers. Tell the students to circle the correct emergency number for the USE. The emergency number in the USE is 911. Ask the students if they know the emergency number for any other countries: UK: 999, Australia: 000.

Prepare a translation of the class timetable in English.
Show the pupils their timetable in English
Leave the drawings on the board but erase the names of the subjects.
Ask the students about the subject for each place.
Show Transparency. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette and point to each of the pictures. Ask the students to repeat after the cassette.
Step 3 Practice
(Books open) Show Transparency. Point to each picture. Revise the locations and teach the new words. Read aloud or play the Pupil’s Book Cassette. Ask the students to repeat the words after you.
Ask the pupils to make sentences about the subjects the other children are good at.
3. Divide the class into pairs. Tell them to take turns pointing to a child in the picture.

Ask the students to write a sentence about their favourite subjects. Their sentence must include the words:be good at, maths, science, arts and crafts,PE, English, Chinese,music. Then ask the students to take turns reading their sentences and show the real subject books to the class but they must not say maths, science, arts and crafts,PE, English, Chinese,music…. The other students guess what the missing word is.
