I. Aim: Consolidation and
1. Practise using the words of the months, the days of the work, and the dates correctly.
2. Ask and answer about the main sentences learned in this unit.
II. Steps:
1 .Step One：Warm up : Play a game.
① The teacher tells one of the months, eg, May，when the teacher puts up his / her right hand, the students should tell the next month(June), if the teacher puts up his/her left hand, the students should tell the month before the given one. (April).
②Invite some students to the front to play with the class like the teacher.
2.Step Two：Revision
① The teacher writes the twelve months on twelve scrips and put them in a box, he/she puts the scrips with the four seasons in another.
② A student draws a scrip from each box and try to make a correct sentence: eg. June is in summer. Or June is not in winter. If the student can make a right sentence his/her group can get one point. Students compete in groups to see which group can win.
Step 3 The teacher says some sentences in Chinese and the students write them out in English.

Step 4 Presentation: Listen to the tape of “G”---Sing the song :
(1).Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette for the pupils to listen to the song.

Step5 .(1)H. Think about it !
Ask the pupils how many birthdays Xiaoming has had (three). Ask them to divide his age by the number of his birthdays (three). Which date only happens once every four years? (February 29th).

Presentation: 1.Find out the birthdays of a few pupils in the class.
2.(Book closed.) Write the date of the teacher`s birthday on the board,e.g. September 19.Point to the date and say This is my birthday. My birthday is on September 19th. 3.Write the numbers 1 to 20 on the board in a row. Write th next to number19. Tell the pupils that when we say the date we add th to most numbers. Add th to numbers4 to 20.
4.Point to nimber1.Ask the pupils if they know what we add next to 1 when we say dates. Write st and say we have a special way of saying nimber one when it`s a date. WE SAY FIRST. Write the word first on the board. Ask the pupils to say the word after the teacher.
5.Repeat the procedure to teach second and third. Continue by showing the pupils how the spelling changes for fifth, ninth, twelth and twentieth.Write 21,22 and 23 underneath1,2and 3. Ask the pupils to guess how we write twenty-first,twenty-second and twenty-third.Ask the pupil to coguess how spell thirtieth and how to change 31 into a date. Tell the pupils to count with the teacher from first to thirty-first.
6.Pick a pupil`s birthday. Ask the pupils to stand up. Then tell the rest of the class (Name`s) birthday is in (month). Invite the other pupils to guess when his/her birthday is.
Practice: 1.(Books open.) Show Transparency. Explain that Koko is asking her friends about their birthdays.Read Koko and Ken`s conversation and ask the pupils to repeat it after the teacher.

Part F: Make a birthday train
Teaching aims: Consolidate what the pupils have learned in this unit.
When’s … birthday? It’s in…/on…
Is your birthday in…/on…? Yes,it is./No,it isn’t.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Greetings and free talk.
Ask: Which month is it?/What’s the date today?/When’s your birthday? etc.
Step2 : Play “Bingo” game with the months.
Step3 : Tell the pupils to ask others in the class about their birthdays in order to get into groups with birthdays in the same month. They should follow the example in the pictures on Page6.
Step4 : Within their groups, the pupils find out the birthdays of their group members in order to get into order of dates.
Steps 5: Ask each pupils to cut out the train car on page 77.Tell them to stick or draw a picture of themselves and write the date of their birthday on the carriage.
Step6 : Tell the pupils to line up in order of their birthdays and to present their train by saying who is the first, the second, the third and so on.
Step 7: Results display:
The pupils display the birthday trains on the board. Ask the pupils to sing the Happy Birthday song for each month, replacing the third line Happy Birthday, dear(name) with Your birthday’s in( month).
Step 8: Make a survey: To see which month is each pupil’s bithday in. Then make a diagram.
