Step 1 Review the past forms of some verbs. Ask the students to make sentences with these verbs.
Step 2 Learn part G
(1) Let Ss listen and read the poem.
(2) Say the poem slowly and clearly.
(3) Introduce culture about the UK and Australia
Step 3 Learn part H think about it. Ask the students to look at the diagram that shows why when it is summer in Australia it winter in China and vice versa. Explain: north hemisphere, south hemisphere, sun shines, opposite season, similar time zone, Greenwich mean time (GMT), Australians never have a white Christmas.
Ask the student to complete the table about the seasons in the different countries
Step 4 play a game
Task 1 students divided into eight groups. Each group was given some names of different cities. Students should find out which countries are these cities in. They can discuss with their group members. The group that know most of the cities is the winner of the game.
Step 5 Predict the climate in different cities
Task 2 show the students a map of the world, ask them to predict the weather in some cities, they can also discuss with their group members.

Step 1 Review the last period
Step 2 Leading in: Ask the students How many days does it take to go around the world? How can they travel around the world if they can’t go by plane?
Step 3 Ask the students to read the passage and then circle the correct answers.
Step 4 Ask the students Did Phileas go around the world in 80days? The answer to it is Yes. The students can find the original 1873 translation of the story at www.jv.gilead.org.il/pg/80days.

Task 1 group work: If you have a holiday, what would you think of first?
Step 4 learn B1 play the VCD for the students, ask them to pay attention to what Mark did, where he went, and how he went there.
Task 2 say and act. Help Mark to finish his postcard.
Step 5 Task 3 group work: share your own trip with friends. Ask the students to bring their own photos to class, tell a story or give an introduction to their group members. Then ask some of them to show it to the whole class.
Step 6 fun time: play a guessing game
Ask one student to mime an action in front of all the students, the other students guess what he/she did on his/her holiday.
Homework: write a postcard to your friends, introduce your wonderful trip to him/her.

Step 1 revision: review the last period
Step 2 learn B2 ask the students to look at Ann’s photos of her holiday. Ask them what did she do on holiday? Circle the correct words.
Task 1 tell the students to pretend they went to Anne’s holiday. They should underline the activities they did on holiday. Tell them to work in pairs to ask questions to find out what their partner did.
Step 3 learn part B3 listening comprehension
Step 4 ask the students to do some research on the cities
Step5 ask the students to choose a city and make a list of things they can do there.
Step 6 tell the students to think of someone they want to send their postcard to. Explain that if they are very friendly with the person they can choose Hi there! or hello! as greetings, and Take care or Love for an ending. If they do not know the person very well, then they should choose How are you? and See you soon.
Step7ask the students to choose one of the pictures on pages 83 and 85 and to cut it out and stick it on a piece of card. This will be the front of their postcard. Tell the students to make sure what are the activities they can do in that place.
Step 8 tell the students to draw a line down the center of the card and to write the address on the right. Ask them to write the message for their postcards in rough. Remind them to use the past forms of the verbs.

Task objectives:

Steps:
Greeting.
Free talk.
Sing a song: If you are happy.
Review simple future tense: will do/ be going to do sth
① Talk about the plan about the weekend. “Are you going to have a holiday this weekend?” “Where are you going to do?”
② Play a guessing game. Show some parts of the places of interests in Shenzhen. Ask students to guess where the teacher is going to spend this weekend.
③ Introduce some names of the places in Shenzhen. Ask students to make a simple survey that what their classmates are going to do this weekend. Give them two minutes and check.
Introduce the boy in A, Mark. Tell students he is going to have a long holiday. Listen, look at the map and Mark’s travel plan. Get where and when he is going to spend his holiday and what he is going to do.
Introduce names of other countries and their famous cities and places of interests. (Show ppt.) Show national flags of some counties. Ask students to choose the countries they are interested in. The teacher may click the flag and see the famous place of that country.
Group work. The teacher is going to spend his/her winter holiday abroad. Ask students to help him/her to make a travel plan. Look at the map of the world and choose some interesting places for him/her. Discuss in groups and finish the plan cards.
Introduce some famous places in China. Winter holiday is coming. Ask your classmates what he/she is going to do this holiday and where he/she is going. Students can ask anyone in the classroom.
Conclusion.

Finish Mark’s travel plan on page 61.
Make a travel plan for this winter holiday with your family.

Unit 7 Holiday postcards (E)
The teacher read the three words “spell”, “study”, and “school” clearly and slowly. Ask students to find out what sound the teacher is trying to emphasize.
Read aloud the sounds [sp] 、[st]、[sk] after the tape one by one paying attention to the changed sound when [p], [t], [k], meet the sound [s].
Ask students to practice the sound and the three words. Then the teacher and the students sum up words with the sound [sp], [st], [sk], such as, sport, space, spoon, stand, stop, stamp, skirt, skip, skate, ect.
Ask students to listen to the rhyme and the teacher tries to emphasize the three sounds in the rhyme.
Let students say the rhyme and try to recite it in class.
