Play CAI showing the sun, the Earth and the moon.
Play CAI showing the Big DIPPER and North Star.
Let Ss discuss and then talk something about the CAI. Such as:
What can you see?
Do you know what are they?
Teach the words: Earth, star, sun, moon, planet
Express the word huge: The sun is huge. Huge means very big.
Put up a big box and a small box, then ask the students: Which box is heavier?
The students answer: The big box is heavier.
Play CAI (about the sun, the moon, the Earth)
Say: The Earth is far from the sun..
The moon is near to the Earth.
Teach: far, near to
Practice
Chant: The sun is big.
The Earth is small.
The Earth flies around the sun.
The Earth is big.
The moon is small.
The moon flies around the Earth
Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette. Ask the students to repeat after the cassette twice.
Group work: Practise the dialogue.
Ask the students to role-play the dialogue in groups of three.
Do Exercise 1 on Page30, then check it.
Extending
Tell the students that the Big Dipper is composed of seven bright stars that can be seen from the Earth. The North Star is another big , bright star which is visible from the Earth. If they are interested in learning more about planets and stars, they can visit the following websites:

Summing—up: Today we have learned PartA of Unit3.
Homework:
Listen, read and recite Page21 five times.

Develope the reading skills of the students and extend the knowledge of space and space man.

Procedure:
Pre-task: Present some new words which appear in Part C.
Ask the students if they know anything about the space man Liwei Yang?
If they want to know more about space man and space station.
Then explain the new words “gravity fix sunrise sunset float” with PPT.
Task1 Read an article about Dr Zhang who works in space station and develope the reading skills.
First reading: 5 W questions.(who when where what why), and find out the key words.
Second reading: Read through after- reading exercises(D) and then begin the 2nd reading.
Third reading: Read it for the 3rd time and do the exercises of Part D.
Give out the answers to the questions in Part D.
Explanation and practice: It is easier / more difficult to do sth.
There is a sunrise or sunset every 45 minutes.
Task2 Watch a video of how people stay in a space station and then answer the questions.
( With questions which are related to the video)
Do you want to be a space man?
If you work or live in a space station what are you going to do?
