Unit One Hello, Gogo!
Period Two
I. Teaching objectives:
1. Arouse the students’ interest;
2. Review of Student’s Book I;
3. Learn some new words.
II. Teaching key points:
Words: notebook, snake, soup, pink, pencil case, butterfly, steak, gray thanks, this, that, these, those, mother, father;
Sentences: What’s this It’s a butterfly. I like chicken. What do you like I like steak. How are you Fine, thanks.
III. Teaching difficult points:
the spelling of the words, the sound of “th” IV.
Ⅳ. Teaching aids:
tape recorder, word cards, slide, real things, colored pencils.
Ⅴ.Teaching procedure:
Step 1 Word guessing game (mouthing)
Step 2 Read the conversation in groups
Step 3 Acting game of the conversation
Step 4 Teach the words of “soup” and “steak”
T: I can draw very well. What am I drawing
Air draw the vocabulary words: soup and steak and elicit responses from Ss. Let them create an action stand for soup and steak.
Step 5 Teach the words of “pink” and “gray” Point to objects in the room that are pink and gray and elicit responses from Ss. If time possible, revise the colors they’ve learnt.
Step6 Revision of letter N-Z and the letter words
Step 7 Practice 1 Point to the pictures one at a time.
T: Who’s she” Who’s he” What is this” Have Ss guess what the dialogues are going to be. Accept all responses. Play the tape for Number 1, and then pause. Let the students say out the answer. Pausing after each question to allow Ss to answer on their own. Check it out.
Step 8 Practice 2
1. Play the tape and have Ss answer.
2. Model complete sentences.
3. Put Ss in pairs to ask and answer these questions.
Step 9 Take a rest – Simon says
Step 10 Conclusion
Step 11 Homework
1. Listen to the tape and read after it three times.
2. Finish workbook 1, 2, 3. Cut out the word cards.
