Unit 10 How many are there
Teaching Aims:
Train the students’ ability of listening (can hear and catch the meaning of the new words and sentences); speaking (can speak the numbers ); reading (according to the picture to catch the meaning in Conversation); writing (can write the new words).
The students can master and use the words and sentences of the text.
Train the students’ communication skills and encourage them to communicate with each other.

The first period
Teaching contents:
New words: thirteen to twenty
New sentences: How many cherries (oranges ……)are there
There are thirteen (fourteen …..).
Teaching key point:

Teaching Procedure:
Step Ⅰ Organize teaching
Sing a “what time is it ”song.
Step Ⅱ Review
Review unit 9
Words: one to twelve
Sentences: What time is it
It’s one (two …..)O’clock.
Play a game:
Guess “What time is it now ” .Pass the doll ,when the music stop who keep the doll who must answer the question .
E.g.:
T : What time is it now Guess !
S :It’s one (two ……)o’clock .
…
Step Ⅲ Presentation 1
Look at these cards ,do you still remember the numbers we learned ,now let’s read it together , one , two …..( raise a card about the number they don’t learn , “thirteen “
1. Learn the new word “thirteen ”.
(1) Point to the ppt “9+4= thirteen ” and say like this:
T : Thirteen . Read after me “thirteen ”(read for several times, make sure the student know the meaning of “thirteen ).
(2) Ask the students count the fruit and write the “13” in the air and read the word after the teacher.
(3) One by one read the word .Then the teacher write down the word on the blackboard ,in mean while let the student read what the teacher writes .
2 .The same way to teach the other words(fourteen …).
StepⅣ Reinforcement
1. Open your books .Listen to the tape of the Vocabulary. Point and say.
2. Play a words game:
Guess the word and try to spell it .
StepⅤ Presentation 2
Listen what the teacher point to the card and then write down the sentences:
How many cherries are there
There are twenty .
Ask one or two students to say the sentences. Make sure the student understand the sentences .
Listen to the tape of C onversation. listen say and point.
Pairs work. Ask one pairs or two come out and act.
try to sing the new song “How many are there ”
StepⅥ Conclusion
Sum up what we learned in the class. Use the ppt picture Review the new words and sentences.
Stress the key point and difficult point.
StepⅦ Homework
Copy the words.
Read Conversation and Vocabulary for two times.
