Unit 2 Are you dancing
The first period
I、Objectives and Requirements:
1、 Let’s check听力练习检查学生对unit 1 所学内容的掌握情况。
2、 Let’s chant, 通过说有节奏、有韵律的歌谣学习与巩固本课所学的单词。
3、 Let’s sing. 通过歌曲的学习,激发的兴趣,巩固所学的单词。
4、 Let’s think. 通过联想,培养学生运用新单词的能力。
II、Teaching aims:
1、 能学会本课的八个新单词。( exercising, working, shouting, thinking, practicing, talking, cutting, coloring.)
2、 能在一定的情景中运用本课的新单词。
3、 培养学生的注意力,激发学生的积极思维,挖掘学生运用语言的创造能力。
III、Teaching aids:
本课的单词图片;录音机;磁带。
IV、Teaching procedure
Step 1 Revision
1. Let’s sing and chant.
2.Let’s have dictation. ( unit 1 words.)
Step 2 Presentation
Conversation
Getting ready
Have Ss look at the pictures on the page.
T: ( Point to the first picture.) What’s this
S: It’s Tony and Jenny’s mom.
T: ( Point to the second picture.) What’s this
S: It’s a game.
Continue asking simple questions about each picture.
T: Look at the last picture. Gogo is exercising. Do you like exercising Let’s stand up and try!
T: Model exercising! Repeat.
S: We’re exercising!
T: Ok, everyone. Sit down.
Using the book
T: Let’s listen to the tape.
Play the tape and point to each picture for Ss to follow. Stamp your feet during the thumping sound effect and model holding your finger to your lips for Ssh!
T: Let’s listen again and repeat.
Play the tape, pausing after each sentence to have Ss repeat.
Put Ss into four groups and give them the roles of Mom, Jenny, Tony and Gogo.
Play the tape again, pausing after each sentence for each group to repeat its part.
Encourage groups to add voice expressions and actions.
Vocabulary
Getting ready
Put picture cards 11-20 word side up on the board.
Write the simple verb form for each word next to the cards. E.g. exercise for exercising, work for working, etc.
T: Repeat after me. Exercise.
S: exercise
T: exercising
S: exercising
Continue with the other words.
Point out the spelling changes, e. g. cut- cutting, glue - gluing, etc. depending on your class level.
Using the book
Have Ss look at the pictures.
T: Listen to the tape and repeat. Point to each word as you say it.
Play the tape and have Ss repeat.
Point to the pictures at random and have Ss say the words.
Target
Getting ready
Write No, he is not. On the board
Underline he is and write he’s underneath.
Underline is not and write isn’t underneath in a different color of chalk/marker.
Although Ss are familiar with the phrase No, he isn’t. from Levels 1- 3, explain that No, he’s not. Means the same thing.
Introduce more phrases with other pronouns, such as No, she’s not. No, they’re not., etc.
Using the book
Play the tape, pausing after each sentence for Ss to repeat.
Repeat with the second picture.
Put Ss in pairs and have them practice the dialogs.
Play a game
Chant activity
Have Ss stand up. Model exercising, e.g. curling dumbbells. Have Ss do the same while T chants with the tape. When Ss understand, play the tape and have all Ss chant and exercise at the same time. When Ss get used to it, pink one female student to pantomime working when Ss chant She’s working. And pick one male student to pantomime thinking when Ss chant He’s thinking.
Step 3 Summary up
Today We have learned 8 words and asking about and describing what people are doing.
Step 4 Homework
1. Read P. 9-10
