Unit 5 Where are you going
The first period
I、 Teaching Contents：
1、 Let’s chant, 通过说有节奏、有韵律的歌谣学习与巩固本课所学的单词。
2、 Let’s sing. 通过歌曲的学习，激发的兴趣，巩固所学的单词。
3、 Let’s sing. 通过歌曲的学习，激发的兴趣，巩固所学的单词。
II、Teaching Aims：
1、 学会本课的八个新单词。（ movie, swimming pool, hospital, shopping mall, restaurant, park, beach.）
2、 在一定的情景中运用本课的新单词。
3、 养学生的注意力，激发学生的积极思维，挖掘学生运用语言的创造能力。
III、Teaching Aids：
本课的单词图片；录音机；磁带。
IV、Teaching Procedure
Step 1 Revision
1.Ask and answer. (P.19)
T: Is she / he…
S1: No, she’s /he’s not. She’s / He’s …
Step 2 Presentation
Conversation
Getting ready
Bring in a variety of things to go with the new vocabulary, e.g. straw hat, sunglasses, beach towel, suitcase, bandage, shopping bag, etc.
T: ( Put on a hat and sunglasses and hold a towel.) Look! I’m going to the beach. ( Show picture card 40 beach.)
Continue with other realia to introduce other places in the dialog.
Using the book
Have Ss look at the pictures on the page.
T: Let’s listen to the tape.
Play the tape and point to each picture for Ss to follow.
T: Let’s listen again and repeat.
Play the tape, pausing after each expression to have Ss repeat.
T: Is Gogo going to the beach
Have Ss discuss whether Gogo should use his magic to change the direction of the bus.
Vocabulary
Getting ready
Put picture cards 31-40 up on the board.
T: Look at the picture cards.
Say each word as you hold up each picture card. Show the picture and then the word.
T: Now listen and repeat.
Hold up each picture card, say the word and have Ss repeat.
Using the book
T: Listen to the tape and repeat. Point to each place as you say it.
Play the tape and have Ss repeat.
T: ( Point to beach.) Where is this
Ss: It’s the beach.
Continue with the rest of the pictures.
Target
Getting ready
Draw a smiling face on the board and write I underneath. Put one of the picture cards, e.g. bank, next to it.
T: ( Point to I ) I’m going to the bank.
Put up the picture card of Jenny ( from level1) on the board. Write she underneath the card. Put another picture card from this unit next to it.
T: Can you make a sentence Where is she going
Ss: She’s going to the park.
Put the picture cards of Tony and Gogo ( from level 1) on the board with a picture cards of from this unit next to them. Write they underneath the cards of Tony and Gogo.
Ask Ss to make up a sentence.
Using the book
Have Ss look at the pictures on the page.
Ask individual Ss to read out the sentences.
Play the tape a few times and have Ss repeat.
Step 3 Summary
Today we have learned 8 words and Asking about and describing about where people are going.
Step 4 Homework
1. Copy the new words.
2. Read P.23-24.
