Have you ever seen the film Travelling Bird In the film, groups of birds fly high above the sky and cross the way above snow, rivers, fields, sea and grassland. I’m sure you will love the beautiful picture when you see the film.
But you may not feel so good if you have learnt about bird flu on TV or on the Internet. Some governments had to kill chickens in their cities. A large number of chickens and even some people died in Asia, and nearly 8,500 birds died in Russia because of bird flu.
Chickens can get bird flu from the feces(排泄物) of the passing birds. It is not so difficult to control the chickens in cages or on farms, but it is much more difficult to control the birds in the sky.
Luckily, scientists have found a medicine for bird flu. But the virus(病毒) can change easily and quickly. So bird flu is still a serious problem we must face.

There are really two classes of wealthy people. Millionaires are rich. Billionaires(亿万富翁) are super rich! However, determining a person’s wealth (财富) is not always easy.
The wealth of a king or queen, for example, is based on the wealth and property (财产) of the nation instead of the personal wealth and property of the king or queen. For some kings and queens, it is difficult to tell two kinds of wealth apart.
The richest member of a royal family is Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud. His personal wealth was estimated(估计) in 2003 to be $18 billion. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is often thought to be the richest woman in the world. However, when the public property of England was ruled out(排除), her personal property seemed rather small. Queen Elizabeth II’s personal wealth was estimated in 2003 to be $397 million. This was less than J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books, who was estimated to be worth $444 million.
In the United States, there were 222 people reported to be billionaires in 2003. The richest of them is Bill Gates, worth at least $41 billion, who made his money by starting the company Microsoft. Mr Gates was only twenty years old when he first helped to set up the company in 1976. He was the billionaire by the time he was thirty-one.
Mr Gates may seem young to be so rich, but other people have made a lot of money at even younger ages, including Jackie Coogan and Shirley Temple. Both child actors made over million dollars acting in movies before they were fourteen years old. However, the youngest billionaire is Albert von Thurn und Taxis of Germany, who, in 2001, inherited (继承) a billion dollars when he turned eighteen.

Some students feel that English learning means no fun. That’s just because they haven’t found a way of learning English happily. Here’s a suggestion from those students who are fond of one-act plays (独幕剧): Learning English through performing short plays!
“The Cop and the Anthem (《警察与赞美诗》),” a famous story by O. Henry(欧·亨利), is put into an interesting one-act play by students from Jianping High School. Of course the students make some changes.
Two beggars are cold and hungry. Winter is coming and they decided to spend the winter in prison because there they will have food to eat and a place to live in. They do a lot of bad things in order to be sent into prison, but fail every time. At last, when they hear the anthem and want to start a new life as a good person, they are caught by a policeman and sent in to prison.
The set decoration(布景装饰) and costumes of the play were great. The stage was covered with fallen leaves, showing that the story happened in winter. The two “beggars” looked really poor. They wore shabby (破旧的) clothes and dirty shoes, and their hair was messy(乱糟糟的). They showed their great disappointment every time they failed to go to prison. And when they saw delicious food, their eyes opened wide. They looked really hungry. The two “beggars” were wonderful actors.
