Have you ever been ill? When you are ill, you must be unhappy because your body becomes hot, and there are pains all over your body. You don't want to work, you stay in bed, feeling very sad. What makes us ill? It is germs (细菌) . Germs are everywhere. They are very small and you can't find them with your eyes, but you can see them with a microscope. So your father and mother will not let you drink dirty water. Germs aren't found only in water. They are found in air and dust. If you cut your finger, if some of the dust from the floor goes into the cut, some of the germs would go into your finger. Your finger would become big and red, and you will have much pain in it. As one of the most successful singers of the twentieth century, Ella Fitzgerald has made several different styles of her own. She was born in Virginia but was brought up in Yonkers, New York. Chick Webb noticed her in a competition when she was sixteen. He asked her to sing with his band, and when he died in 1939, she took it over. Unlike Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald taught herself the sentimental music so popular in the 1930’s--- songs like “My Heart Belongs to Daddy” ---- and her recordings became best sellers. During the 1940’s she developed her own “scat singing”, for songs like “Flying Home” and “Lady Be Good”. Ella Fitzgerald was the perfect musical partner for her friend, the trumpeter Louis Arm-strong, matching him in warmth and artistry. “I just like music.” she said. “To me, it’s a story. There’s only one thing better than singing… it is singing.”

Any mistake which is made in the printing of a stamp raised its value to stamp collectors. A mistake on a two-penny stamp has made it worth a million and a half times its face value.
Do you think it possible? However, it’s true.
The mistake was made more than 100 years ago in Mauritius, a small island in the Indian Ocean, which was a British colony at that time. In 1846, an order for stamps was sent to London. Thus Mauritius became the fourth country in the world which had the stamps made in other countries.
Before the order was filled, that is, the stamps arrived from England, a big dance party was planned by the commander-in-chief of all the armed forces on the island. The party would be held in his house and letters of invitation would be sent to all the important people in Mauritius. So stamps were badly needed to post the letters. Therefore, an islander, who was a good printer, was told to copy the pattern of the stamps. He carelessly put the words “Post Office” instead of “Post Paid”, two words seen on the stamps at that time, on several hundred stamps that he printed.
Today, there are only 26 of these misprinted stamps left—fourteen One-penny Reds and twelve Two-penny Blues. Because there are so few Two-penny Blues and because of their age, collectors have paid as much as $16,800 for each of them.
46. Which of the following can be a title for the passage?

C be curious about表示“对…… 2. A lead to表示“导致”。
4. A on the other hand
5. B besides
7. C in store for表示“等待”。
9. A draw attention to表示“唤起某人对某事的注意”。
10. C go against
11. C be made up of
12. D on the way 即将到来
13. C in harmony with
14. B get into a panic
15. B representative
18. A no trouble表示一点都没有问题。 19. 20. C as much troubled as中的much表示程度。 21. 24. B be satisfied with表示对…… 25. A or so表示大约,大概的意思。 27. A call sb. to do sth. 28. C 我们通常是说make a point但是很少说make an opinion来表示提出,阐述观点。 29. D have sth. in mind表示头脑中所想的是事情。 30. B in this way表示用这样的方法。 31.
A 36 -40 D A C D A
B 41-45 BDDCB
C 46-50 A B C A D
D 51-55 CABAB

短文改错 1. decide→decided 2. the前加from 3. hang→hanging 4. that→if/ whether
5. so→but 6. strange→strangely 7. √ 8. 去掉was 9. the→a 10. As→If
TV viewing has become an important part of family life. By watching TV, people can get a lot of knowledge and information. You can also travel around the world, watch films, news reports, sports games and so on without buying tickets. But every coin has tow sides. Many people turn on TV as soon as they arrive home and don’t turn it off until they fall asleep late into the night. Besides, too much fighting and killing has bad effects on children. We should make good use of TV and choose interesting and instructive TV programs.
